The rate of over-70 year post-surgery patients referred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Units is increasing. Strategies designed to encourage and facilitate participation in rehabilitation programs in the elderly should be developed. Aim of this paper is to present our elderly-centered program, specifically designed on patient's needs and frailty, and its short- and medium-term results in 160 consecutive over-70 year patients, admitted in our Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit soon after cardiac surgery. The program was safe, well accepted by the patients, and effective in improving objective and subjective functional status.

Using a large health insurance database in Japan, we examined the real-world usage of budesonide enteric-coated capsules (BUD) in treating Crohn's disease. We analyzed data from the Japan Medical Data Center claims database for Crohn's disease patients prescribed BUD from April 2016 to March 2021, focusing on prescription status, adverse events (AEs), monitoring tests, and concomitant medications over 2 years following BUD initiation. Patients were categorized into two groups based on BUD usage duration: ≤1 year and >1 year.

Background: Previous studies have shown that allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) from an HLA haploidentical (haplo) donor followed by graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis with post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) results in lower relapse rates and improved DFS when compared to haplo bone marrow transplant (BMT) with PTCy. However, PBSCT leads to higher rates of GVHD. It is unknown whether the benefits of haplo PBSCT may be nullified in older patients (>60 years) by a higher susceptibility to GVHD and transplant related toxicity.

Introduction: The infections of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) associated with duodenoscopes during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedure have become a significant cause for concern, especially in fragile patients. While the clinical impacts of these infections are well-documented, their economic implications remain underexplored. This study assesses the incidence and economic burden of post-ERCP infections in Italy using an administrative database.

: Despite advancements in vascular surgery, the mortality among peripheral arterial disease (PAD) patients undergoing major amputations remains high. While a large body of evidence has previously covered survival rates after major amputation, there is less evidence regarding the associated survival penalty from an epidemiological perspective. The present analysis aimed at quantifying the survival disadvantage after major lower limb amputation while investigating which factors are associated with mortality in this patient cohort.
