Published: June 2007

Purpose: This in vitro study investigated 4 impression techniques to determine their dimensional accuracy in comparison with a standard technique.

Materials And Methods: A master metal framework with 2 inner hex implants (SIN; Sistema de Implante Nacional Ltda., Sao Paulo, Brazil) was used as a standard for the comparisons. Sixty master casts were prepared to evaluate 4 impression techniques: (1) indirect impression technique with tapered transfer copings, (2) direct impression technique with unsplinted squared transfer copings, (3) direct impression technique with squared transfer copings splinted with acrylic resin, and (4) direct impression technique with squared transfer copings with acrylic resin splints sectioned 17 minutes after setting and welded with the same resin. A profile projector was used to measure the distance between the copings attached to the analogs. Mean distances (mm) were calculated from 3 measurements for each sample in the master casts and in the master metal framework.

Results: Analysis of variance and the Tukey HSD test were used for statistical analysis of data (alpha = 0.05). The results for the direct technique with squared transfer copings with acrylic resin splints sectioned and welded after setting were not significantly different from results for the master metal framework.

Conclusion: Considering the methodology used and the results obtained, the direct impression technique with squared transfer copings with acrylic resin splints sectioned and welded after setting had better results than the other techniques studied.

Objective: The sandwich generation refers to individuals who are simultaneously responsible for caring for their aging parents and their own children. Research shows that the number of sandwich generation caregivers is increasing, and they face significant physical, psychological, social, and economic challenges. Therefore, it is crucial for these caregivers to develop effective coping strategies.

The double-edged sword of self-tracking: investigating factors of technostress in performance-oriented cycling and triathlon.

Front Sports Act Living

November 2024

Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Behavioral Science, Chemnitz Univercity of Technology, Chemnitz, Germany.

This study is dedicated to the investigation of technostress caused by self-tracking in performance-oriented amateur sports and thus addresses a significant research gap in the understanding of stress factors operating in this specific context. Although technostress in occupational and private settings has been extensively researched, there is a lack of knowledge about the effects and specifics of technostress caused by the use of self-tracking technologies such as wearables and performance monitoring apps in sports. A total of 16 stress factors were identified, eight of which - information overload, distraction, unavailability, loss of control, lack of sense of achievement, unreliability, complexity and self-monitoring - are already known from the professional context and were transferred to the sports context.

Considerations in Paediatric and Adolescent Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

J Crohns Colitis

October 2024

Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Erasmus MC - Sophia Children's Hospital, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The incidence of inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] is rising most rapidly among children and adolescents. Paediatric-onset IBD is associated with a more extensive and severe disease course compared to adult-onset IBD. At a young age, screening for underlying genetic and immunological disorders is important and may impact treatment management.

To explore the relationships among fertility stress, dyadic coping and marital quality in couples undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET). Couples receiving IVF-ET treatment at the clinic of the reproductive medicine centre of a hospital in China from February 2023 to October 2023 were selected by convenience sampling. A general information questionnaire, the Infertility Fertility Stress Scale (COMP-FPSS-SF), the dyadic coping inventory, and the marital adjustment test were used to evaluate the results.
