Purpose: To report the optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings in a case of Purtscher's retinopathy.

Methods: Enhanced optical coherence tomography, fundus photography, multifocal electroretinography.

Results: A 27-years-old female parachutist demonstrated outer retinal opacification with small intraretinal hemorrhages and corresponding binocular pericentric ring scotomata one day after suffering an unusually abrupt arrest of a free fall upon the unfolding of her parachute. When seen 20 years later, the scotomata were unchanged and optical coherence tomography showed bilateral disorganization at the transition between the retinal photoreceptor outer segments and the retinal pigment epithelium plus attenuation of the outer nuclear layer.

Conclusions: Our observations document that the long term sequels of Purtscher's retinopathy are located in the outer segments of the photoreceptors.

Polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) measures the polarization state of backscattered light from tissues and provides valuable insights into the birefringence properties of biological tissues. Contrastive unpaired translation (CUT) was used in this study to generate a synthetic PS-OCT image from a single OCT image. The challenges related to extensive data requirements relying on labeled datasets using only pixel-wise correlations that make it difficult to efficiently regenerate the periodic patterns observed in PS-OCT images were addressed.

Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) is the standard for diagnosing plateau iris, but its limited accessibility in routine clinical settings presents challenges. While anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is more convenient, its effectiveness in detecting plateau iris is limited. Previous research has demonstrated that combining UBM and AS-OCT image pairs through neural style transfer has improved classification accuracy.

Background: This study investigated the association between photoreceptor structural restoration and visual function outcomes in patients undergoing surgery for closed macular holes (MHs). Using adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (AOSLO) and microperimetry, we aimed to provide a more detailed understanding of photoreceptor recovery and visual improvement in closed MHs.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study of 31 eyes of 28 patients who underwent vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling to treat idiopathic MHs.

Peripapillary pachychoroid syndrome (PPS) is a recently described condition, classified within the pachychoroid disease spectrum characterized by focal or diffuse thickening of the choroid due to dilation of choroidal vessels in the Haller's layer (pachyvessels), thinning of the choriocapillaris and the Sattler's layer, and accompanied by increased choroidal permeability and damage to the retinal pigment epithelium. Unlike other pachychoroid diseases that involve changes in the central retina, PPS presents with choroidal thickening and intra- or subretinal fluid located nasally in the macular region, near the optic disc. This review aims to summarize and analyze current data on the clinical features, pathogenesis, and treatment options for PPS found in the literature.
