Visible light induced photocatalytic inactivation of bacteria (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis) and fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger) was tested. Carbon-doped titanium dioxide and TiO2 modified with platinum(IV) chloride complexes were used as suspension or immobilised at the surface of plastic plates. A biocidal effect was observed under visible light irradiation in the case of E. coli in the presence of both photocatalysts. The platinum(IV) modified titania exhibited a higher inactivation effect, also in the absence of light. The mechanism of visible light induced photoinactivation is briefly discussed. The observed detrimental effect of photocatalysts on various microorganism groups decreases in the order: E. coli > S. aureus approximately E. faecalis>>C. albicans approximately A. niger. This sequence results most probably from differences in cell wall or cell membrane structures in these microorganisms and is not related to the ability of catalase production.

Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the in vitro effects of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzyme activity and interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) expression. HDAC enzyme activity and the expression of inflammation markers were tested, with the presence of the HDAC inhibitor valproic acid, in human primary cell cultures prepared from two different tissues.

Material And Methods: Primary cell cultures were prepared.

Establishing the protein-protein interaction network sheds light on functional genomics studies by providing insights from known counterparts. However, the rice interactome has barely been studied due to the lack of massive, reliable, and cost-effective methodologies. Here, the development of a barcode-indexed PCR coupled with HiFi long-read sequencing pipeline (BIP-seq) is reported for high throughput Protein Protein Interaction (PPI)identification.

Phoronida is a small group of marine animals, most of which are characterized by a long larval period and complex metamorphosis. As a result of metamorphosis, their body changes so much that their true anterior and posterior ends are very close to each other, and the intestine becomes long and U-shaped. Using histology and electron microscopy, we have shown that the elongation and change in shape of the digestive tract that occurs during metamorphosis in Phoronopsis harmeri larvae is accompanied by the formation of new parts and changes in ultrastructure.

Controlling intermolecular interactions, such as triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) and triplet-polaron annihilation (TPA), is crucial for achieving high quantum efficiency in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by suppressing exciton loss. This study investigates the molecular design of tetradentate Pt(II) complexes used for singlet exciton harvesting in fluorescent OLEDs to elucidate the relationship between the chemical structure of the ligands and exciton quenching mechanisms. It was discovered that the bulkiness of substituents is pivotal for maximizing quantum efficiency in these devices.
