Versatile alkylation reactions give access to symmetric, homoleptic nonsymmetric, and heteroleptic symmetric hexaalkylated 1,2-diphosphonium derivatives as bottleable salts in high yields. A series of 1,2-diphosphonium salts has been isolated and characterized, representing prototypical phosphorus analogues of ethane. Additionally, the solid-state structures for four derivatives have been determined crystallographically. Nonsymmetrically substituted derivatives of 1,2-diphosphonium cations enable the direct observation of 1J(PAPB) coupling constants for two tetracoordinate phosphorus centers. The synthetic approaches promise access to a vast array of derivatives and will provide means to the systematic development of phosphorus analogues of hydrocarbon chemistry.

Background: Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) is the third most common endocrine system disorder. Parathyroidectomy (PTx) is the gold standard of care in symptomatic patients. Patients who are not surgical candidates may benefit from percutaneous ethanol ablation, which is a minimally invasive procedure.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFGlufosinate (GLUF) and glyphosate (GLY) are nonselective phosphorus-containing amino acid herbicides that are widely used in agricultural gardens and noncultivated areas. These herbicides give rise to a number of key metabolites, with 3-methyl phosphinicopropionic acid (MPPA), -acetyl glufosinate (-acetyl GLUF), aminomethyl phosphonic acid (AMPA), -acetyl aminomethyl phosphonic acid (-acetyl AMPA), -acetyl glyphosate (-acetyl GLY), -methyl glyphosate (-methyl GLY) as the major metabolites obtained from GLUF and GLY. Extensive use of these herbicides may lead to their increased presence in the environment, especially aquatic ecosystems.

This species was found to undergo rapid and selective intramolecular aliphatic C-H bond activation to yield a phosphinoborenium cation, which undergoes facile deprotonation to give a cyclic base-stabilized phosphaborene. Computational investigation of the mechanism of C-H activation indicates a boron-centred activation route with an exceptionally low barrier of 8 kJ mol-1, followed by a nearly barrierless hydride migration from boron to phosphorus.

A new methodology is presented for the rapid, specific, and sensitive detection of irinotecan (CPT-11), a chemotherapeutic agent utilized in the treatment of cancer, along with its metabolically active derivative, SN-38, via laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LDI MS). The method includes the detection of camptothecin (CPT), which can be utilized as an internal standard for the quantitative assessment of both CPT-11 and SN-38 in mouse serum. The approach utilizes a plasmonic two-dimensional (2D) black phosphorus nanosheet (BPN)-gold nanomatrix (BP@Au) in LDI MS.

Objective: To explore the correlation between vitamin D levels, related endocrine/metabolic factors, and the risk of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) in children and adolescents, and to assess whether vitamin D levels are associated with SCFE severity.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted from March 2014 to October 2023 in Shengjing hospital. Patients diagnosed with SCFE were categorized as the SCFE group.
