Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of antiretroviral drugs as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for preventing HIV acquisition for occupational and non-occupational exposures. To inform the development of global WHO recommendations on PEP, we reviewed national guidelines of PEP for their recommendations.

Methods: Policies addressing PEP from 38 WHO HIV priority countries were obtained by searching governmental and non-governmental websites and consulting country and regional experts; these countries were selected based on HIV burden, new HIV acquisitions and the number of HIV-associated deaths.

Background: Our previous research demonstrated that growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) exhibited superior predictive capability for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) development with an AUC of 0.86 at 10 years before disease diagnosis. Viral hepatitis B is infamous for being contracted in young adulthood and adolescence, as high-risk behaviors like unprotected sexual intercourse and intravenous drug abuse are common. Most infections caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) are cleared without any long-term sequelae, but some may persist and cause chronic hepatitis B (CHB). This chronicity may produce a state of prolonged inflammation and significantly increase the risk of developing colorectal adenomas (CRA) and colorectal carcinomas (CRC).

Patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis SAH may suffer of undiagnosed psychiatric illnesses, typically depression. Assessment of prevalence and potential impact of psychiatric disturbances on alcohol relapse after LT, were the main objectives of this study. One hundred consecutive patients with SAH from April 2016 to May 2023 were analyzed.
