The primary purpose of this study was to document the physiological responses of level walking and running (LW/R) at various speeds, and grade walking (GW) at various grades on a treadmill. Twenty-four young untrained Japanese women performed 2 tests on the specially designed treadmill for a higher grade exercise. The first test was the LW/R with increase of speeds, 33.3, 66.7, 91.7, and 116.7 m.min(-1). The first 3 progressions were for walking and the last progression was for running. The second test was the GW with increase of grades 0, 10, 20, and 30% with the velocity of 33.3 m.min(-1) in all progressions. The different combinations of speeds and grade for the progressions used in this study were selected based on the results of preliminary pilot studies, so that the percent heart rate maximim (%HRmax) was reached at the minimum intensities recommended to allow improving cardiorespiratory fitness by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Unlabelled: We recently reported that resistance trained (T, n=10) and untrained (UT, n=11) young adults experience vastus lateralis (VL) muscle atrophy following two weeks of disuse, and 8 weeks of recovery resistance training (RT) promotes VL hypertrophy in both participant cohorts. However, angiogenesis targets and muscle capillary number were not examined and currently no human studies that have sought to determine if disuse followed by recovery RT affects these outcomes. Thus, we examined whether disuse and/or recovery RT affected these outcomes.

Purpose: Exercise has been shown to reduce platelet reactivity and increase platelet sensitivity to prostacyclin, an endothelium-derived inhibitor of platelet activation, in middle-aged men and women. It is currently unknown if these beneficial effects can also be observed in young women and the intracellular mechanisms involved have not been identified. In this study, the feasibility of detecting changes in platelet reactivity, prostacyclin sensitivity and cAMP signalling were tested.

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for plant-based products from omnivorous consumers seeking a healthier and more sustainable diet, but sensory issues can still impact the consumption experience. Since food denomination and labeling can play a crucial role in consumer expectation and perception, investigating these interactions is essential. Thus, this study investigated the influence of plant-based product denominations on consumer expectations and sensory perceptions.

Background: and purpose: The autonomic recovery after exercise provides information about the cardiovascular overload employed during the training session. The autonomic response over a training course is unclear in exercises performed at high intensities, such as kettlebell training. The study aimed to characterize the cardiac autonomic modulation after exercise in three distinct phases of a high-intensity kettlebell training program in young women.
