We present the case of a 60-year-old man with carcinoma in situ of the urethra after previous successful radiotherapy of an invasive bladder tumor. Intraurethral instillations with bacillus Calmette-Guérin were given. In spite of initial success, recurrences developed after two courses of 12 intraurethral instillations, and radical surgery was performed. The use of bacillus Calmette-Guérin is reviewed with regard to the locations of superficial transitional cell carcinoma outside the bladder cavity.

Chronic prostatitis/Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a condition that affects a large number of men and has unknown etiology. We have previously demonstrated the presence of elevated levels of mast cell tryptase in expressed prostatic secretions (EPS) of CP/CPPS patients. In a murine model of CP/CPPS, we showed tryptase and its cognate receptor PAR2 as critical to the development of pelvic pain and lower urinary tract symptoms.

Background: To compare the effectiveness of spinal anesthesia (SA) and the combination of intraurethral topical instillation of 2% lidocaine + intraurethral local visual injection anesthesia (T + LIA) for visual internal urethrotomy (VIU) in the treatment of traumatic posterior urethral strictures and prostatic urethral stenoses.

Methods: In this study, the results of 178 patients who underwent visual internal urethrotomy for posterior urethral strictures and prostatic urethral stenoses secondary to trauma in our clinic between October 2018 and January 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Patients were divided into two groups as combined T + LIA (n=146, 82.
