The Authors describe their experience in telephonic transmission of cardiotocographic recordings. With a Corometrics 116 and 410 unit installed in a remote facility, 61 CTG recordings were tele-transmitted and received by a Toshiba personal computer. The concordance between original and transmitted CTG record was excellent and a very low percentage of signal loss during transmission (3.2%) was found. The advantages of telephone transmission of CTG in peripheral areas are stressed.

Background: While most Danish citizens never or very rarely call the national emergency helpline, 1-1-2, a few citizens call very often. In this article, we attend to the often-unheard voices of frequent callers, exploring why these citizens call 1-1-2 and why they often do not feel helped.

Methods: The article is based on a mixed-methods study on citizens in the Central Denmark Region who had called 1-1-2 five or more times during a period of six months in 2023.

Sensor-based gesture recognition on mobile devices is critical to human-computer interaction, enabling intuitive user input for various applications. However, current approaches often rely on server-based retraining whenever new gestures are introduced, incurring substantial energy consumption and latency due to frequent data transmission. To address these limitations, we present the first on-device continual learning framework for gesture recognition.

In this study, a convenient method was proposed for the synthesis of thymine-capped mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) using strong hydrogen bonding in non-protonic solvent. Furthermore, application of the functionalized MSN for the recognition of mercuric ion (Hg) based on a paper-based platform with smartphone-assisted colorimetric detection was developed. The synthesized materials were characterized by techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), N adsorption-desorption, particle size analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
