Case Report: We report one case of Brown-McLean syndrome.

Discussion: In this case, a 71-year-old male developed a Brown-McLean syndrome after implantation of an anterior chamber lens in one aphakic eye. A phacoemulsification procedure was performed in the other eye without development of corneal clearance alterations in the next 7 years. The cause of Brown-McLean syndrome is still unexplained. It is possible that it could develop in eyes with a genetic predisposition when these eyes are exposed to certain conditions, such as insertion of an anterior chamber lens.

Purpose: To assess the effect of anterior chamber depth on corneal endothelium using specular microscopy following uneventful phacoemulsification among cataract patients with different axial lengths.

Methods: The study was conducted in a quasi-experimental design including 300 eyes of 300 patients with grade three age-related nuclear cataract distributed equally based on their axial length into three equal groups. All eyes had grade three nuclear cataract.

This study investigated the content of inflammatory cytokines in the aqueous humor (AH) of cataract patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and explored the effect of metformin on the level of cytokines. AH was collected from patients undergoing phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in Peking University Third Hospital. Levels of cytokines were measured by Cytometric Bead Assay (CBA) Flex Set.

Crystalline lens power and astigmatism calculation in myopia by swept-source optical coherence tomography: A pilot study.

Graefes Arch Clin Exp Ophthalmol

January 2025

National Clinical Research Center for Ocular Diseases, Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, 618# Fengqi East Road, Hangzhou, 310000, Zhejiang, China.

Purpose: To calculate the crystalline lens power and astigmatism, as well as their changes following cycloplegia, in individuals with myopia using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT).

Methods: Participants were divided into two groups according to axial length (AL). Crystalline lens parameters, including power, lens thickness (LT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), and astigmatism, were measured with SS-OCT and analysed before and after cycloplegia.
