To examine the relationship of gonadal hormone and symptom patterns across the menstrual cycle, women screened for 2-3 cycles completed an intensive study cycle; 26 had a low-severity symptoms (LS), 20, a premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and 26, a premenstrual magnification pattern (PMM). All completed daily symptom diaries and collected late afternoon urine samples which were assayed for pregnanediol and estradiol for that cycle. The PMS and PMM groups had significantly more positive cross-correlations of pregnanediol and symptoms than the LS group. Women in all groups had similar levels of estradiol and pregnanediol. Women with PMS and PMM patterns responded to progesterone differently than women with LS patterns: thus the former groups may not benefit from hormone therapies.

A heterogeneous Fenton-like system comprising palygorskite/MnO/FeO (PMM) as a superior, low-cost, and eco-friendly ternary catalyst for the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) was investigated with regard to its ability to degrade Acid Scarlet GR in an aqueous solution. Under the optimum catalytic oxidation conditions of 1 g L PMM, 0.7 g L PMS, and an initial pH value of 5, 200 mg L Acid Scarlet GR was completely degraded within 300 min.

Background: This study sought to explore the underlying mechanism of long non-coding ribonucleic acid nuclear enriched abundant transcript 1 () and PTEN-induced kinase 1 (PINK1)-mediated mitophagy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) induced by cigarette smoke (CS) or fine particular matter (PM).
Methods: In total, 30 male Wistar Rats were divided into the following 3 groups: (I) the COPD group exposed to CS (CSM); (II) the COPD group exposed to PM (PMM); and (III) the control (Ctrl) group. Pulmonary function, the enzyme-linked immunoassay analysis results, the histopathology results, and the ultrastructures of the lung tissues were examined in the 3 groups, and expression levels and the mitophagy-related protein PINK1, Parkin, LC3B, and p62 levels were assessed by quantitative reverse transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blotting.

Conductive membranes provide a promising method to alleviate membrane fouling, but their cost-effective fabrication, which is urgently needed, is still a challenge. This paper describes the facile fabrication of an ultrafiltration conductive polypyrrole (PPy)-modified membrane (PMM) by in situ chemical polymerization of FeCl and monomer pyrrole vapor on a commercial membrane surface. The resulting membrane had a high electrical conductivity and an outstanding water flux of 2766.
