We prepared the first sigma-bonded metal complexes of widely utilized organic dyes, perylene tetracarboxylic acid diimides (PDIs). These 1,7-dipalladium PDI complexes were synthesized by C-Br oxidative addition of 1,7-dibromo-N,N'-dicyclohexyl PDI (Br2PDI) to Pd(0) phosphine complexes bearing triphenylphosphine and bischelating 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe). The structures of Pd-PDI complexes were elucidated by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Surprisingly, despite direct attachement of two late transition metal centers, Pd-PDI systems are highly fluorescent (Phi=0.65 and 0.22 for triphenylphosphine and dppe systems, respectively). This is rationalized in terms of weak electronic interactions between the metal centers and PDI pi-system, as revealed by TD-DFT calculations.

Polymer cubosomes (PCs) have garnered significant interest in the field of nanomaterials and nanotechnology due to their unique properties and potential applications. However, the fabrication of PCs remains challenging. Polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA) is recognized as an efficient method for producing a variety of polymer particles, including PCs.

Objective: Early education and care (ECEC) is part of the everyday life of most children in developed economies presenting exceptional opportunity to support nutrition and ongoing food preferences. Yet, the degree to which such opportunity is captured in policy-driven assessment and quality ratings of ECEC services is unknown.
Design: Abductive thematic analysis was conducted, guided by key domains of knowledge in nutrition literature and examining identified themes within these domains.

Unlabelled: The Châtelperronian and Uluzzian techno-complexes are identified in western Europe in the same stratigraphic position, between the late Middle Palaeolithic and other Upper Palaeolithic assemblages. Both industries include retouched artefacts with abrupt retouch and arched backs, and radiometric dating indicates that these two technocomplexes belong to the same window of time. Here, we provide a detailed, qualitative technological comparison of two Châtelperronian and two Uluzzian lithic assemblages based on a collaborative, first-hand examination of these collections.

Despite the fact that life expectancies are increasing and the burden of infectious diseases is decreasing, global cancer incidence rates are on the rise. Cancer outcome metrics are dismal for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including sub-Saharan Africa, where adequate resources and infrastructure for cancer care and control are lacking. Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, exemplifies the miserable situation.

We report a case of coexisting cold agglutinin and cryoglobulin in a patient with severe anemia following COVID-19 infection, in whom direct antiglobulin testing revealed C3d positivity and immunoglobulin G negativity. There was no evident hemolytic anemia, thrombosis, or clinically significant IgM monoclonal gammopathy. The anemia improved with folic acid supplementation alone accompanied by a decrease of the cold agglutination titer, and the direct antiglobulin test became negative.
