Sliding indirect inguinal hernias containing the ipsilateral uterine adnexa are not uncommon in female infants. We report a case of a 12-year-old girl presenting with a benign tumor (serous cystadenofibroma) in a retroperitoneally located ovary. The patient had a history of hernia repair in the neonatal period. Displacement of the ovary and fallopian tube in the retroperitoneal space is a rarely reported complication of pediatric inguinal hernia surgery. Uncorrected, this can result in hormonal dysfunction, decreased fertility, and difficult and unclear situations during abdominal surgery in adulthood. A laparoscopic approach for hernia repair may prevent this complication.

Background: Adolescent females have a high prevalence of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) anterior disc displacement (ADD), which can lead to condylar resorption and dentofacial deformity. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that disrupts bone metabolism. However, the effects of PCOS on bone remodeling especially after disc repositioning (DR) surgery are not well understood.

Purpose: We aimed to describe the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of adnexal torsion, additional radiological findings and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurements of the affected and non-affected ovaries.
Methods: We retrospectively examined the MRI of 34 torsed adnexa of 34 cases. We specifically examined the peripherally displaced follicle sign, stromal edema, lack of stromal contrast enhancement, follicular rim sign, T2 hypointense rim sign, uterine deviation, adnexal displacement, whirlpool sign, T2 hypointense dot sign, and tubal thickening.

In this Letter, we propose a new, to the best of our knowledge, lensless on-chip holographic microscopy platform, which can acquire sub-pixel-shifting holograms through centimeter (cm)-level lateral translations. An LED light source is used to illuminate the sample, and two orthogonally tilted step-structure glass plates are inserted into the optical path. By merely displacing the glass plates under cm-level precision, a series of holograms with sub-pixel displacements can be obtained.
