Enhanced Nasal-to-Brain Drug Delivery by Multivalent Bioadhesive Nanoparticle Clusters for Cerebral Ischemic Reperfusion Injury Protection.

Acta Biomater

January 2025

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Shenzhen), Shenzhen Campus of Sun Yat-sen University, Shenzhen, 518107, China; School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Shenzhen), Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, 510275, China. Electronic address:

Following cerebral ischemia, reperfusion injury can worsen ischemia-induced functional, metabolic disturbances, and pathological damage upon blood flow restoration, potentially leading to irreversible harm. Yet, there's a dearth of advanced, localized drug delivery systems ensuring active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) efficacy in cerebral protection during ischemia-reperfusion. This study introduces a multivalent bioadhesive nanoparticle-cluster, merging bioadhesive nanoparticles (BNPs) with dendritic polyamidoamine (PAMAM), enhancing nose-to-brain delivery and brain protection efficacy against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injuries (CIRI).

Freeway continuous merging areas in a short distance exist continuous multiple ramps. In these areas, traffic flow and vehicle interactions are more complex, and traffic crashes and congestion are more frequent, which has been a major concern influencing traffic operation of freeways. Active traffic management (ATM) measures can improve traffic efficiency and reduce traffic risks in merging areas.

Spatial chromosome organization and adaptation of the radiation-resistant extremophile Deinococcus radiodurans.

J Biol Chem

December 2024

Hubei Key Laboratory of Agricultural Bioinformatics, College of Informatics, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Deinococcus radiodurans is a hardy microorganism known for its ability to survive extreme radiation and chemical damage, largely due to its advanced DNA repair skills.
  • Researchers used chromosome conformation capture (3C) technology to analyze the 3D structure of its genome and how UV irradiation affects chromosome organization.
  • The study found that UV exposure leads to reduced chromosome interactions and larger chromosomal domains, revealing insights into how a protein called DrEbfC regulates gene expression and helps the organism cope with environmental stresses.

Online survey on existing sarcoidosis registries and biobanks: an ERN lung initiative.

Sarcoidosis Vasc Diffuse Lung Dis

December 2024

Center for interstitial and rare lung diseases, Pneumology Department, Ruhrlandklinik University Hospital, University of Duisburg-Essen, Essen, Germany.

The present survey, promoted by the European Reference Network on rare respiratory diseases (ERN-Lung, Core Networks Sarcoidosis and ILD), aims to assess the existing sarcoidosis registries and biobanks across Europe and to compare the various types of biospecimen collected, the different procedures performed, and the sample storage conditions applied. This survey was initiated by the European Reference Network on rare respiratory diseases (ERN-Lung) Core Network "Sarcoidosis" in April 2023. The survey was launched by ERN-Lung Core Network "Sarcoidosis" in August 2023 and remained active until end of February 2024.

Leveraging Diverse Regulated Cell Death Patterns to Identify Diagnosis Biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease.

J Prev Alzheimers Dis

November 2024

Dr Xueyan Chen, Beijing Key Laboratory of Mental Disorders, National Clinical Research Center for Mental Disorders and National Center for Mental Disorders, Beijing Anding Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China, Advanced Innovation Center for Human Brain Protection, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China, E-mail address:

Background: The functions of regulated cell death (RCD) are closely related to Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, very few studies have systematically investigated the diagnosis and immunologic role of RCD-related genes in AD patients.

Methods: 8 multicenter AD cohorts were included in this study, and then were merged into a meta cohort.
