Department of Physics, Nuclear Physics and Techniques Team, Faculty of Science, Ibn Tofail University, Kenitra, Morocco.

Controlling the absorbed dose received by a target is a major challenge encountered during ionizing radiation applications. For experimentally measuring absorbed dose, dosimetric systems are used. On the other hand, in addition to experimental methods of dose measurement, there are other alternatives for calculating absorbed doses, these are numerical methods based on the Monte Carlo method which are very sophisticated and widely used throughout the world.

Safe storage of fresh and irradiated fuel is ensured by solving the problem of photon emission protection. The neutron component is usually not taken into account due to its low intensity. However, for the new VVER-1200 fuel, the neutron component consideration is a mandatory procedure for radiation safety.

In abdominal X-ray examinations, radiosensitive organs such as the gonads within or near the imaging region are at risk of radiation exposure. Minimizing the dose to these organs is crucial to reducing unnecessary radiation. This study utilized optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters (OSLDs) to measure the radiation dose to the male gonads at varying kilovoltage peak (kVp) settings while keeping the milliampere-seconds (mAs) constant across different radiographic projections.
