Purpose: We evaluated reports of minilaparoscopic cholecystectomy as compared to conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Materials And Methods: We searched the Medline, Embase, and Cochrane library databases for randomized controlled trials reported between January 1996 to December 2005. The outcome measures used were operative time, length of hospital stay, postoperative pain, postoperative analgesic requirement, and cosmetic results. Meta-analysis methods were used to measure the pooled estimate of the effect size.
Results: Data from 712 patients (352 minilaparoscopic cholecystectomy and 360 conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy) in 12 randomized controlled trials were analyzed. The statistically significant advantages of minilaparoscopic cholecystectomy were less postoperative pain and better cosmesis. Conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy showed a trend to shorter operative time that did not reach statistical significance.
Conclusion: Minilaparoscopic cholecystectomy could be a feasible alternative to conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy in select patients, resulting in less pain and better cosmetic results. Additional well-designed randomized controlled and, if possible, blinded trials, with large sample sizes, are required to confirm this conclusion.

Objective: To analyze the efficacy of indocyanine green fluorescence (ICG-F)-assisted laparoscopic hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: This retrospective study included 120 patients with HCC who underwent laparoscopic hepatectomy in The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from February 2020 to November 2022. Among them, 58 patients underwent conventional laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic group), and 62 patients underwent ICG-F assisted laparoscopic surgery (ICG-F group).

Elevated IAP can reduce visceral perfusion, lead to intraabdominal hypertension, and result in life-threatening abdominal compartment syndrome. To optimize the efficacy of analgesia for patients receiving laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, peri-operative pain neuroscience education (PNE) as a pain-specific cognitive therapy was incorporated into multi-modal analgesia. A randomized controlled trial was conducted to compare conventional analgesia (group CA) and the addition of pain neuroscience education into it (group PNE) in patients receiving laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Characteristics of peri-operative pain was evaluated with Douleur Neuropathique 4 questionnaire (DN-4), central sensitization inventory (CSI), pain catastrophizing scale (PCS) post-operatively and pressure pain threshold.
