Mountain lakes are particularly fragile ecosystems undergoing important ecological and depositional transformations associated with ongoing global change. However, the history of anthropogenic impacts on mountain lakes and their catchments is much longer, in many cases featuring millennia of summer pastoral farming. More recently, the growing demand for raw materials and energy linked to industrialization, particularly accelerated since the 19th century CE, meant a further increase in human impact on mountain areas.

Porcine circoviruses (PCVs), including porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) and porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3), have been associated with clinical syndromes in swine, resulting in significant economic losses. To better understand the epidemiology and clinical relevance of PCV2 and PCV3, this study analyzed a dataset comprising diagnostic data from six veterinary diagnostic laboratories (VDLs) in the United States of America. The data comprised of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results, sample type, and age group for PCV2 and PCV3 submissions from 2002-2023.

The Arctic Ocean has experienced significant sea ice loss over recent decades, shifting towards a thinner and more mobile seasonal ice regime. However, the impacts of these transformations on the upper ocean dynamics of the biologically productive Pacific Arctic continental shelves remain underexplored. Here, we quantified the summer upper mixed layer depth and analyzed its interannual to decadal evolution with sea ice and atmospheric forcing, using hydrographic observations and model reanalysis from 1996 to 2021.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is widely prevalent in the Asia-Pacific region. There is limited information on JE virus (JEV) seroprevalence as well as the associated epidemiologic and ecological factors in India. This study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of JEV and associated risk factors in swine populations from climatically diverse regions of the country.

Background: Previous studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency is a risk factor for obesity in children and adolescents, but most focus on school-age children and adolescents, with little attention paid preschoolers.
Objectives: To explore the relationship between overweight or obesity in the context of vitamin D intake among preschool children in Beijing, and analyze the correlation.
Methods: A total of 51,640 preschoolers (26,775 boys; 24,865 girls), aged 1-6 years, were recruited for physical examination.
