We recently directly examined the relationship between blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) signals and neural activity by simultaneously acquiring electrophysiological and fMRI data from monkeys in a 4.7-T vertical scanner (Logothetis NK, Pauls J, Augath MA, Trinath T, Oeltermann A. Neurophysiological investigation of the basis of the fMRI signal. Nature 2001;412:150-157). Acquisition of electrical signals in the microvolt range required extensive development of new recording hardware, including electrodes, microdrives, signal conditioning and interference compensation devices. Here, we provide a detailed description of the interference compensation system that can be used to record field and action potentials intracortically within a high-field scanner.

Cells of the methylotrophic yeast Ogataea parapolymorpha have two genes encoding low-affinity phosphate transporters: PHO87, encoding the plasma membrane transporter, and PHO91, encoding a protein, which is homologous to the Saccharomyces cerevisiae vacuolar membrane transporter. Earlier, we reported that inactivation of PHO91 in O. parapolymorpha interferes with methanol utilization due to the lack of activity of methanol oxidase encoded by the MOX gene.

This system utilizes distributed feedback lasers (DFBs) and a carrier recovery algorithm facilitated by a bifunctional frequency-domain pilot tone (FPT). To reduce costs in coherent PON implementations, low-cost DFBs are employed as the sole light sources, replacing the more expensive external cavity lasers (ECLs) at both the optical line terminal (OLT) and the optical network units (ONUs).

The hydraulic support pushing mechanism is the primary equipment utilized in coal mine backfill operations, playing a crucial role in enhancing filling efficiency, ensuring a stable filling body, and managing gob safety. This paper focuses on analyzing the dynamic model and the interrelationship of the hydraulic cylinder, which serves as the power source for the pushing mechanism. To address the intricate coupling effects arising from the hydraulic cylinders and the displacement-force induced by the shared pump, this study employs feedforward compensation for decoupling analysis.

Environmental fluorescence measurements sometimes use water Raman scattering as an internal standard to compensate for path length, lensing effects, and turbidity. Fluorescent dissolved organic matter (FDOM) in water may interfere strongly with the measurement of this reference. However, fluorescence in fluid solution is largely unpolarized, while the OH stretching Raman band of water is always strongly polarized.
