Many imaging directors aspire to executive level positions in healthcare. This article explores the reasons why imaging directors are a natural fit for executive positions. One must also determine if they have a personality/temperament that is suited to the role of an executive. Not everyone will find the role attractive. Typical expectations of the executive suite are shared. A roadmap to the executive suite is presented, both for the individual wishing to advance in their current place of employment, and for those seeking to use their current organization as a springboard to an executive career.
