Microarrays have the potential to become the next generation blood-testing platform. This commentary covers various aspects of such development presented in part at the Scotblood 2006 Meeting. Current mandatory testing includes antibody and antigen determination in both blood grouping and microbiology testing. While antibody determination is limited to phenotypic assays, antigen detection can be accomplished by genotyping or phenotyping. Applicability of various types of assays to microarrays, precision and sensitivity levels and correlation between genotyping and phenotyping results are briefly discussed and some of the main questions that need to be answered highlighted in future trends.

The objectives of this minireview are two-fold. The first is to discuss the evolution of opioid analgesia in perioperative medicine in the context of thoracic non-cardiac surgery. Current standard-of-care, aiming to optimize analgesia and limit undesirable side effects, is discussed in the context of multimodal analgesia, specifically enhanced recovery after thoracic surgery pathways.

Objective: This research investigates the influence of passion on DanceSport engagement (DSE) among university students specializing in DanceSport, along with the mediating function of DanceSport partnership (DSP).
Methods: A survey involving 1,029 participants was conducted using the Passion Scale, Athlete Engagement Questionnaire, and Chinese DanceSport Partnership Scale.
Results: There were significant positive associations among passion, DSP, and DSE.

This systematic review assessed chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and trichomoniasis prevalence by sex, sub-region, and year, and estimated male-to-female prevalence ratios for SSA.
Methods: We searched Embase, MEDLINE, Global Health, PubMed, and African Index Medicus for studies measuring STI prevalence among general populations from January 1, 2000, to September 17, 2024.
