Following numerous experimental observations that various non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have antitumor potentials, a series of fenoprofenamides (1a-g) and ketoprofenamides (2a-c) was tested on proliferation of different human tumor cell lines and normal human fibroblasts in vitro. Fenoprofen and ketoprofen showed modest antiproliferative activity, whereas the growth inhibitory activity of the tested amides clearly demonstrates that the substituents linked by an amide bond are essential for the significantly stronger cytostatic activity, probably because of a greater lipophilicity and/or better cell uptake. Additionally, it was shown that the most active derivatives (1d and 2a) induced cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase, as well as apoptosis.

The valence and core electronic structure of three non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (methyl salicylate, fenoprofen and ketoprofen) have been studied by photoelectron and soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy, supported by theoretical calculations of the molecular and electronic structure. The conformational landscape has been explored for sixteen low-energy conformers of fenoprofen and ketoprofen, and the energies of both compounds fall into two groups with steric similarities, separated by about 3 kJ mol. Valence band photoelectron spectra agree with previous results, and the spectra have been calculated using two approaches.

This review presents a comprehensive analysis of current research on biological treatment processes for removing pharmaceutical compounds (PhCs) from wastewater. Unlike previous studies on this topic, our study specifically delves into the effectiveness and drawbacks of various treatment approaches such as traditional wastewater treatment facilities (WWTP), membrane bioreactors (MBRs), constructed wetlands (CW), and moving bed biofilm reactors (MBBR). Through the examination and synthesis of information gathered from more than 200 research studies, we have created a comprehensive database that delves into the effectiveness of eliminating 19 particular PhCs, including commonly studied compounds such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, ketoprofen, indomethacin, salicylic acid, codeine, and fenoprofen, amoxicillin, azithromycin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, tetracycline, atenolol, propranolol, and metoprolol.

Profenoid drugs are a kind of common non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and their chiral enantiomers often have huge differences in pharmacological activities. In this work, a novel chiral separation system by capillary electrophoresis (CE) was constructed using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) functionalized with bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a quasi-stationary phase (QSP), and the enantioseparation of six profenoid drugs was efficiently accomplished. Under optimal chromatographic conditions, the enantioseparation performance of the AuNP@BSA-based chiral separation system was greatly improved compared with that of free BSA (Resolutions, Ibuprofen: 0.

Bulk and precipitation polymerization methods were used to prepare ibuprofen-molecularly imprinted polymers. Molecularly imprinted polymer-bulk and -precipitation were synthesized in acetonitrile, likewise molecularly imprinted polymer-bulk (mixture) and molecularly imprinted polymer-precipitation (mixture) in a mixture of acetonitrile/toluene (75:25 v/v). N adsorption-desorption analysis data revealed that molecularly imprinted polymer-precipitation (mixture) has the highest specific surface area (200.

Novel electrospun /PVA blend nanofibres were fabricated for potential water treatment applications by blending a natural polymer extracted from (MW) roots with poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA). The fabricated nanofibres were shown to have a smooth and uniform morphology with an average diameter of 99 ± 0.025 nm.
