Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Tiaoshen Tonglin Decoction (TTD)) on chronic prostatitis syndrome (CPS) and its effects on urinary flow rate (UFR), uric acid (UA) content and pH value in expressed prostate secretions (EPS).

Methods: One hundred and eight patients with CPS were randomly assigned to two groups, the treatment group (56 cases) treated with TTI) and the control group (52 cases) with terazosin tablet, both for 60 days. The changes of chronic prostatitis symptom index (NIH-CPSL), established by the National Institutes of Health, U.S.A., UA and pH in EPS, as well as UFR were observed before and after treatment.

Results: The cure rate and the total effective rate in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group respectively (P < 0.05); after treatment, the UA level, pH value in EPS and NIH-CPSI decreased significantly in the treatment group (P < 0.01), lower than those in the control group, which had significant change (P < 0.05); the maximum UFR and average UFR of both groups were improved markedly after treatment (P < 0.05) with insignificant difference between the groups.

Conclusion: TTD can improve the UFR, decrease the NIH-CPSI score, pH value and UA level in the EPS, is an effective recipe for treatment of CPS.

Veterinary Medical Center (Takahashi, Motegi, Fujita, Hashimoto) and Laboratory of Veterinary Surgery, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences (Kato, Nakagawa, Nishimura) and Laboratory of Veterinary Clinical Pathobiology, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences (Maeda), The University of Tokyo, 1-1-1 Yayoi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113-8657, Japan.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate outcomes and complications in dogs with urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder trigone treated with total cystectomy using uretero-prepuce/vagina/cutaneous anastomosis combined with medical treatment.

Animals: Twenty-one dogs.

Procedure: Total cystectomy was completed as follows: The whole bladder and urethra were removed, and the ureters were anastomosed to the skin in 1 case and to the vagina in 9 cases in females.

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS/CP) is a prevalent urinary disorder primarily characterized by pelvic pain and discomfort, bladder dysfunction, and sexual dysfunction. Currently, there is no effective method to alleviate the pain and lower urinary tract symptoms associated with chronic prostatitis. Resiniferatoxin (RTX), a highly potent TRPV1 receptor agonist, functions as a molecular analgesic by desensitizing TRPV1-expressing nerves.

Objectives: Hospital-acquired catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTIs) have been regarded as preventable adverse events, yet their risk in endoscopic skull base surgery (ESBS) has not been well described despite common use. We determine the incidence of UTI following ESBS and identify contributing clinical factors.

Methods: Retrospective review was conducted for a cohort of 229 consecutive adult patients who underwent endoscopic endonasal surgery for treatment of any skull base pathology between July 2018 and June 2022 at a tertiary academic skull base surgery program.

Background: Oral microbes detected in feces have been associated with colorectal cancer (CRC) in cross-sectional studies. This study investigated the prospective associations between the oral microbiome and incident CRC in the Agricultural Health Study (AHS), National Institutes of Health-AARP (NIH-AARP) Diet and Health Study, and Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial.

Methods: Individuals with oral samples collected before incident CRC diagnoses were identified in the AHS (N = 331), NIH-AARP (N = 249), and PLCO (N = 446) and compared with referent subcohorts (N = 3431).

Objective: This study aims to present the prevalence of incidental prostate cancer (IPCa) based on pathology reports of prostate tissue chips following transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), as well as to assess cancer's stage, associated risk factors, and treatment modalities upon diagnosis.

Methods: This cross-sectional retrospective study included patients who underwent TURP between 2015 and 2023. Patients with a preexisting PCa diagnosis were excluded, resulting in the analysis of 418 patients.
