Group B streptococcus (GBS) is the leading cause of bacterial sepsis and meningitis in neonates worldwide, but brain abscess secondary to GBS is extremely rare. While temporal brain abscesses have been described as a sequelae of otogenic infections in children and adults, such a presentation has not been described in neonates. An 8-day-old female infant presented with a fever and irritability along with bilateral purulent otorrhea.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the bacteriological profile of childhood acute bacterial meningitis in Pakistan.
Patients And Methods: The study included a total of 100 children aged between 1 month and 5 years, who were admitted with a diagnosis of meningitis based on clinical findings and positive cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tests. Out of the 100 CSF samples collected, 21 isolates were confirmed to contain Enterobacteriaceae.

Paraneoplastic neurological syndrome (PNS) mostly presents its symptoms prior to cancer treatment. We present a case of anti-Sry-like high mobility group box 1 (SOX-1) antibody-positive PNS diagnosed during the treatment of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). A 65-year-old woman with a history of smoking and SCLC (T3N1M0) was hospitalized to receive chemo-radiation therapy.

The clinical manifestations, treatment, prognosis, serogroups and antimicrobial resistance of 29 hospitalized children with invasive non-typhoid infection confirmed by blood, cerebrospinal fluid, bone marrow and other sterile body fluids or deep pus culture at the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Orthopedics and the Department of General Surgery in Xiamen Children's Hospital from January 2016 to December 2021 were analyzed.
