Gender identity refers to one's psychological sense of their own gender. Establishing gender identity is a complex phenomenon, and the diversity of gender expression challenges simplistic or unified explanations. For this reason, the extent to which it is determined by nature (biological) or nurture (social) is still debatable.

Down syndrome (DS) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are two neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by impairments in language. Most studies do not consider the possible role sex differences may play in language profiles. Thus, the current study aimed to evaluate whether parent-reported structural and pragmatic language vary as a function of sex in youth with DS (n = 37), ASD (n = 106), and typical development (TD; n = 61).

Friends' influence may importantly contribute to the development of adolescent disordered eating behaviors. However, little is known about the influence of friends on loss of control eating. This study investigated whether friend-reported loss of control eating was associated with changes in adolescents' own loss of control eating 1 year later and tested whether adolescents with lower self-esteem, higher fear of negative evaluation, and higher body dissatisfaction were more susceptible to friends' influence.
