Influence of ethanol water-content on gatifloxacin recrystallisations.

Gatifloxacin is a flouroquinolone anti-bacterial agent. This study proved that even the presence of small amounts of water in the recrystallisation medium influenced the product obtained. Different crystal forms were produced from various binary mixtures of ethanol and water. Where mixtures had a water content greater than (or equal to) 50% v/v, only hydrated crystal forms were produced and no ethanol was incorporated into the lattice.

Hydrate-based carbon capture and storage (HBCS) is a sustainable and promising approach to combating global warming by utilizing water, which is a ubiquitous resource. Here, we report a comprehensive study of CO hydrate formation in dry water (DW), a water-in-air dispersion confined in silica particles, for improving the kinetics of hydrate growth. Utilizing a combination of a home-built high-pressure reactor, in situ Raman spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), we elucidate the crystal structure, growth dynamics, and morphology of CO hydrates formed in DW, with and without the kinetic hydrate promoter, l-tryptophan.

Background: E2814 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that recognizes the microtubule-binding region (MTBR) of tau, a region of the protein essential for filament formation and propagation in neurodegenerative diseases. Epitope mapping showed that E2814 binds to a specific sequence motif HVPGG in the MTBR.
