Using ultrasound technology as one of the therapeutic methods, in which ultrasound waves of different frequencies and intensities are employed, has significantly contributed to enhancing and facilitating the treatment process of various diseases. A Hemostatic Ultrasonic Scalpel can entail considerable advantages by simultaneously performing two operations tissue cutting and coagulation of biological tissues. In the present study, employing experimental design through response surface methodology, the effect of ultrasonic power and the duration of vibration application on the tissue has been investigated.

Article Synopsis
  • - Hemorrhage is the main cause of preventable death in trauma situations, leading to military and civilian advancements in medical practices, particularly through the use of tourniquets to manage extremity bleeding and save lives.
  • - While tourniquets have significantly decreased deaths from bleeding in military settings, noncompressible hemorrhage still poses a major risk, especially before patients receive definitive medical care.
  • - The study explores using a small, disposable pressure monitor during resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) to enhance blood pressure monitoring, facilitate better resuscitation practices, and reduce the need for blood products in extreme environments.

International overview of sea turtle fibropapillomatosis: a survey of expert opinions and trends.

Front Cell Dev Biol

August 2024

Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience and Sea Turtle Hospital, University of Florida, St Augustine, FL, United States.

Introduction: Marine environments offer a wealth of opportunities to improve understanding and treatment options for cancers, through insights into a range of fields from drug discovery to mechanistic insights. By applying One Health principles the knowledge obtained can benefit both human and animal populations, including marine species suffering from cancer. One such species is green sea turtles (), which are under threat from fibropapillomatosis (FP), an epizootic tumor disease (animal epidemic) that continues to spread and increase in prevalence globally.

Introduction: Battlefield trauma necessitates prompt hemostatic intervention to mitigate fatalities resulting from critical blood loss. Insights from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom emphasize the limitations of conventional methods, such as tourniquets, especially in noncompressible torso hemorrhage. Despite advancements in hemostatic agents, the evolving dynamics of multidomain operations necessitate novel, lightweight strategies for hemorrhage control.
