The title compound, [Zn(SO(4))(C(12)H(10)N(2))](n), features a layered structure based on [Zn(SO(4))](n) spirals linked by 1,2-di-4-pyridylethylene (bpe) ligands, with the tetrahedral Zn and S atoms lying on twofold axes. The bpe ligands are centrosymmetric. The layers are linked by weak C-H...O interactions.

PD-1 (programmed cell death protein-1)/PD-L1 (programmed cell death ligand 1) as well as IL-10 (interleukin-10)/IL-10R (interleukin-10 receptor) interactions play a major role in tumor immune evasion in various malignancies. Several studies investigated the expression of PD-1 on T lymphocytes in pleural effusions (PE) in patients with malignant diseases. However, results in malignant pleural effusions (MPE) compared to benign PE (BPE) are underreported.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as promising candidates for electrochemical energy storage and conversion due to their high specific surface areas, abundant active sites, and excellent chemical and structural tunability. However, the direct utilization of MOFs as electrochemical materials is a challenge because of the poor electroconductivity induced by the insulating nature of most organic linkers. Herein, a conjugated three-dimensional Ni-MOF {Ni(HBTC)(BPE)} () with a 2-fold interpenetrating structure was developed via the coordination polymerization of Ni, a HBTC ligand (1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid), and a vinyl-functionalized bipyridine linker (1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene, BPE).

Article Synopsis
  • Enantioselective recognition is key in chiral metal-organic frameworks (CMOFs), but understanding how achiral linkers contribute to this process is still difficult.
  • Two CMOFs were created using different achiral linkers paired with the same chiral ligand, l-Phe, leading to distinct enantioselective behaviors in recognition.
  • The study reveals that the interaction between chiral and achiral ligands significantly influences chiral recognition, highlighting the importance of nonchiral ligands in developing new chiral materials.

Background And Objectives: Patch-Clamp recordings allow for in depth electrophysiological characterization of single cells, their general biophysical properties as well as characteristics of voltage- and ligand-gated ionic currents. Different acquisition modes, such as whole-cell patch-clamp recordings in the current or voltage clamp configuration, capacitance measurements or single channel recordings from cultured cells as well as acute brain slices are routinely performed for these purposes. Nevertheless, multipurpose transparent and adaptable software tools to perform reproducible state-of-the-art analysis of multiple experiment types and to manage larger sets of experimental data are currently unavailable.

Exploring enantioselective recognition of dTMP-Co-bpe coordination polymer for natural amino acids using molecular simulations and circular dichroism.

Dalton Trans

Key Laboratory of Cluster Science of Ministry of Education, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing 100081, P. R. China.

The 1D homochiral coordination polymer (CP-1) {[Co(dTMP)(bpe)(HO)]·9HO} was constructed by using 2'-deoxy thymidine 5'-monophosphate disodium salt (dTMP·2Na), and auxiliary ligand bpe (1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene) and characterized by single-crystal XRD, PXRD, IR, UV-visible, CD and TGA analyses. Molecular simulations revealed the selective chiral behaviour of CP-1 towards phenylalanine and histidine, as indicated by their higher binding free energies compared to other amino acids. Theoretical parameters were also compared with experimental UV-visible verdicts.
