High-resolution solid-state NMR spectra of three full-length membrane proteins uniformly aligned in lipid bilayers between glass slides are observed at high magnetic field. The resolution of the specific amino acid labeled samples shows promise for large membrane protein structure determination utilizing aligned samples and shows resonance patterns known as PISA wheels. The tilt angles of the transmembrane helices are extracted from the resonance patterns in PISEMA spectra.

As global urbanization advances, the expansion of urban land has subjected cities to increasingly frequent and extensive external disturbances, often revealing limitations in disaster prevention and mitigation capacities, particularly in regions characterized by high urbanization, environmental degradation, and recurrent natural disasters. This study investigates the association between urban land expansion and urban resilience, developing a targeted analytical framework to assess their coupling and coordination. Leveraging remote sensing data on land use and socio-economic development indicators, we constructed a comprehensive evaluation index encompassing social, economic, ecological, and infrastructural dimensions.

This article introduces an innovative methodology to unveil the intricacies of white matter fiber pathways in the brain using diffusion MRI. Relying on the rationale that traditional methods observe a significant decrease in signal intensity values in the direction of higher diffusivity, our novel approach strategically selects for diffusion-sensitizing gradient directions (dSGDs, representing the directions along which signals are generated) aligned with reduced signal intensities. By treating these selected directions as maximum diffusivity directions, we generate uniformly distributed gradient directions (GDs) around them, which are subsequently employed in the reconstruction process.

Platinum-coated Janus colloids exhibit self-propelled motion in aqueous solution via the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Here, we report their motion in a uniformly aligned nematic phase of lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal, disodium cromoglycate (DSCG). When active Janus colloids are placed in DSCG, we find that the anisotropy of the liquid crystal imposes a strong sense of direction to their motion; the Janus colloids tend to move parallel to the nematic director.

The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique provides a quick and reliable method for detecting pesticide residues. In this study, flexible substrates, composed of orderly arranged silver nanospheres (Ag NPs) films on graphene paper, were fabricated through a simple, low-cost Ag NP self-assembly process at a liquid-liquid interface, followed by transfer of the films onto the graphene paper. The SERS performance of the fabricated substrates was evaluated using a portable Raman spectrometer, with rhodamine 6G (R6G) serving as the probe molecule.
