We analyzed neuromyelitis optica (NMO) IgG in the serum or CSF samples from 46 patients with suspected NMO (28) and limited forms of NMO (18). One hundred and fifteen samples from multiple sclerosis (MS) patients were included as controls. The final clinical diagnosis after follow-up was 16 NMO, 12 MS, 11 transverse myelitis (TM) and seven recurrent optic neuritis (RON). NMO-IgG was detected in 62.5% of NMO, 50% of the recurrent longitudinally extensive TM, 14.3% of the RON but in none of the MS patients. The authors then compared the newly revised diagnostic criteria for NMO with the criteria published in 1999, in the 28 patients with suspected NMO. The revised criteria had higher specificity, and positive and negative predictive value (83.3% vs. 25%; 87.5% vs. 62.5; 83.3% vs. 75%), but slightly lower sensitivity (87.5% vs. 93.7%). Our study confirms NMO-IgG as a highly specific marker of NMO, and the usefulness of the revised diagnostic criteria in predicting a diagnosis of NMO.

Background: The United Network of Organ Sharing made changes to the priority for allocation of hearts for transplantation (HT) in 2016 for pediatric patients and 2018 for adult patients. Although recent work has evaluated the impact of the revised allocation systems on mechanical circulatory support practices and waitlist outcomes, there are limited data that focus more specifically on the impact of the allocation changes on patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) or cardiomyopathy and how these relationships might differ in pediatric and adult patients.
Methods: The United Network of Organ Sharing database was queried for pediatric (<18 years of age) and adult (18-50 years of age) patients with a CHD or cardiomyopathy diagnosis listed for HT.

Current joint practice guidelines (PG) on genetic counseling and testing for Alzheimer's disease (AD), published in 2011 by the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and American College of Medical Genetics), recommend against clinical APOE genetic testing. These recommendations were largely followed, as seen in a survey of AD Research Centers in 2019 where only 7% of centers reported disclosure of APOE to research participants. However, because the risk of amyloid related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) associated with anti-amyloid therapy is increased for those with one or two copies of APOE e4, the FDA now endorses APOE testing for those considering this treatment.

Purpose Of The Study: Lisfranc is a challenging injury both diagnostically and surgically, with sparse long-term literature evidence of surgical practice. We aim to review our long-term specialist orthopaedic institutional experience of Lisfranc injuries and the surgical management of this complex injury, specifically considering surgical outcomes as per radiological and clinical assessment.
