Objectives: Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is an intervention for heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction who exhibit specific electrocardiographic indicators of electrical dyssynchrony. However, electrical dyssynchrony does not universally correspond to left ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony (LVMD). Gated single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion allows for the assessment of LVMD, yet its role in the CRT selection process remains debated.

We examine which decentralized finance architectures enable meaningful regulation by combining financial and computational theory. We show via deduction that a decentralized and permissionless Turing-complete system cannot provably comply with regulations concerning anti-money laundering, know-your-client obligations, some securities restrictions and forms of exchange control. Any system that claims to follow regulations must choose either a form of permission or a less-than-Turing-complete update facility.

Significant research efforts have been devoted to improving the efficiency of catalytic carbon monoxide (CO) oxidation over α-FeO-based catalysts, but details of the underlying mechanism are still under debate. Here we apply the thermodynamic method (AITM) within the density functional theory framework to investigate the phase diagram of α-FeO(0001) surfaces with various terminations and the catalytic mechanism of CO oxidation on these surfaces. By extending the conventional AITM to consider the charge state of surface defects, we build the phase diagram of α-FeO(0001) surfaces in relation to the Fermi energy as well as the oxygen chemical potential, which makes it possible to explain the influence of point defects on the surface morphology and to predict the existence of the experimentally observed functional sites such as the ferryl group (FeO) and oxygen vacancies.

Unlabelled: Since the inception of transplantation, it has been crucial to ensure that organ or tissue donations are made with valid informed consent to avoid concerns about coercion or exploitation. This issue is particularly challenging when it comes to infants and younger children, insofar as they are unable to provide consent. Despite their vulnerability, infants' organs and tissues are considered valuable for biomedical purposes due to their size and unique properties.

A dogma accepted in many ethical, religious, and legal frameworks is that the reasons behind conscientious objection (CO) in healthcare cannot be evaluated or judged by any institution because conscience is individual and autonomous. This paper shows that this background view is mistaken: the requirement to reveal and explain the reasons for conscientious objection in healthcare is ethically justified and legally desirable. Referring to real healthcare cases and legal regulations, this paper argues that these reasons should be evaluated either ex ante or ex post and defends novel conceptual claims that have not been analyzed in the debates on CO.
