Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been approved for treating various cancers; however, they can cause immune-related adverse events. Generally, ICIs are not associated with an increased risk of infection, however, several reports demonstrated infections caused by nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) during ICI therapy. Here, we report a case of NTM shoulder arthritis with acute exacerbation immediately after ICI initiation.

Rice bodies secondary to synovial inflammation, typically occur in the shoulders and knees of individuals affected by either rheumatoid arthritis or tuberculosis. It is uncommon to encounter these in nontubercular mycobacterial tenosynovitis especially in wrist extensor compartment. Understanding this condition and its distinctive imaging features is crucial for both treating clinicians and radiologists.

Zinc aspartate and zinc citrate have been used as zinc supplements in different health conditions. Taking into consideration their anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, anti-oxidant and antimicrobial properties, the present study has been designed to analyse the effect of zinc aspartate and zinc citrate treatment at therapeutic dose level on disease severity index, haematological, serological, antimicrobial and radiological markers of rheumatoid arthritis in Wistar rats. Bactericidal potential of the two organic zinc compounds was analysed in vitro in clinically isolated Escherichia coli.

Background: Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are rare causes of bone and joint infection (BJI) and there is limited evidence on which to base management decisions. This study describes 1 year of experience from a multi-disciplinary BJI team which collects data on all cases reviewed at a tertiary referral centre in Queensland, Australia.
Methods: The database was interrogated for all cases in which NTM were recovered from operative samples.
