The lip presents a unique challenge to the facial plastic surgeon because of its prominent location, elegant form, and important functions. The anatomy and pathology relevant to the lip are considered, along with general concepts to guide lip surgery. The more common approaches to reconstructing lip defects are outlined, illustrated, and discussed.

Avian coccidiosis is one of the many disorders that seriously harm birds' digestive systems. Nowadays the light is shed on using Phytochemical/herbal medicines as alternative natural anti-coccidial chemical-free standards. Consequently, this study aimed to investigate the impact of lawsonia inermis powder (LIP), and Acacia nilotica aqueous extract (ANAE), on growth performance, serum biochemical, antioxidant status, cytokine biomarkers, total oocyst count and intestinal histopathology of broiler chickens challenged with coccidiosis.

Ferroptosis and PANoptosis Under Hypoxia Pivoting on the Crosstalk between DHODH and GPX4 in Corneal Epithelium.

Cell death under stress conditions like hypoxia, involves multiple interconnected pathways. In this study, a stable dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) knockdown human corneal epithelial cell line was established to explore the regulation of hypoxic cell death, which was mitigated by various cell death inhibitors, particularly by a lipid peroxyl radical scavenger liproxstatin-1 (Lip-1), suggesting that hypoxic cell death involves crosstalk of ferroptosis and PANoptosis. We discovered that both DHODH and Glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) protected cells from hypoxic death by inhibiting lipid peroxidation, mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) and maintaining mitochondrial membrane potential.

This novel hybrid single-double-single barrel (1-2-1) design for fibula free flap reconstruction addresses the unique challenges presented by Brown Class III mandibular defects, which involve long-span defects at both bodies of the mandible and the chin. The importance of this design lies in its ability to overcome the limitations of traditional approaches in terms of mandible height and pedicle length, while optimizing both functional and esthetic outcomes. The technique utilizes a combination of single-double-single barrel fibula segments to achieve ideal esthetics and support for dental prosthesis across different areas of the mandible.

Background: Children with cleft lip ± palate (CL/P) may undergo nasoalveolar molding (NAM) before surgery to achieve arch alignment and tension-free closure, yet the endpoint of arch dimensions has not been defined.

Objective: To characterize the size and shape of infant palates using anatomic landmarks on magnetic resonance imaging in infants without CL/P.

Methods: Magnetic resonance imaging of infants without cleft palate younger than 3 months were reviewed and 13 measurements were taken to define palatal shape: distance between incisive foramen (IF) and incisors (IN), IF and middle of canines (MOC), between MOCs, between first molars (FM), 2 depth and 4 angle measurements.
