Synthetic organic dye such as methylene blue (MB) is non-biodegradable and highly toxic, released from textile wastewater. This work investigates the applicability of Ni@ZnO polymer nanocomposite for MB removal from the wastewater. To understand their differences before and after MB adsorption, composites' surface morphology was characterized by various techniques including scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transformation infrared (FT-IR) and UV-Vis spectrophotometer.

Chemotherapy is generally given by intravenous (IV) administration which provides higher bioavailability than other systemic routes. However, in the case of lung cancer, the pulmonary (INH) route is the other choice for inhalable formulations. In the study, biochemical and histological parameters of Cabazitaxel (CBZ) free (2 mg kg) and nanoparticle (NP) (2 mg kg CBZ equivalent) formulations are investigated after IV and INH administration in rats.

The aromatic compound β-phenylethanol (2-PE) is inherently toxic and can inhibit cell activity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, making it highly challenging to enhance strain tolerance through rational design due to the lack of reliable connections between tolerance phenotype and genetic loci. This study employed adaptive laboratory evolution strategy to investigate the tolerance characteristics of S. cerevisiae S288C under inhibitory concentrations of 2-PE.

Toxicological Effectsof Metal-Doped Carbon Quantum Dots.

IIT Bombay, Dept of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT Bombay, 400076, Mumbai, INDIA.

Multi-domain biological and environmental research highlights the efficacy of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as asafer alternative to toxic metal-based quantum dots (QDs) and expensive conventional organic dyes, particularly in biomedical applications. CQDs are often functionalized by metal heteroatoms to improve their electron-donating properties and modify charge density, thereby enhancingtheir physicochemical characteristics. However, metal doping may re-introduce toxicity concerns as in traditional QDs and further increase environmental risks.

Background: External-beam radiation (EBRT) is a noninvasive therapeutic alternative to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The objective of this study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective randomized clinical trials to assess the clinical efficacy of EBRT versus TACE for HCC as either a definitive monotherapy or as a bridge to transplantation/surgery.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to include prospective randomized trials comparing EBRT versus TACE.
