Environmental scanning electron microscopy study of the fine structure of the triple line and cassie-wenzel wetting transition for sessile drops deposited on rough polymer substrates. | LitMetric
The wetting of rough honeycomb micrometrically scaled polymer substrates was studied. A very strong dependence of the apparent contact angle on the drop volume has been established experimentally. The environmental scanning electron microscopy study of the fine structure of the triple line is reported first. The triple line is not smooth and prefers grasping the polymer matrix over air holes. The precursor rim surrounding the drop has been observed. The revealed dependence of the apparent contact angle on the drop volume is explained by the transition between the pure Cassie and combined Wenzel-Cassie wetting regimes, which is induced by capillarity penetration of water into the holes of relief.

This study addresses the silver nanoparticle synthesis utilizing the Acorus calamus leaf extract, which was then employed for environmental applications.
This study aims to optimize the process for preparing chitosan-based ultrasound-coupled hydrogel pads and investigate their application potential in ultrasonography. Chitosan, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, and N-isopropylacrylamide were used as the main materials to prepare chitosan-based ultrasound-coupled hydrogel pads. The free-radical polymerization conditions were optimized by a three-factor, three-level orthogonal test with the tensile strength and ultrasound image quality of the hydrogel pads as evaluation indicators.
To explore the effects of the components in the raw materials and by-products of co-pyrolysis on the physicochemical properties of biochar, rice husk （RH, which has a high percentage of lignin and a low content of N） and sawdust （SD, which has a high percentage of both cellulose and N） were used as typical raw materials to prepare co-pyrolysis biochar. The benzene vapor adsorption performance of the obtained biochar was then tested on a fixed-bed device. At the same time, the by-product components generated during pyrolysis were analyzed using thermogravimetric （TG）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS）.
Replacing traditional plastic mulch with fully biodegradable mulch is an important research direction to solve the problem of "white pollution," but whether it can truly realize biodegradation is still the focus of many scholars. In this study, field and indoor experiments were carried out in Pingluo County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, using poly（butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate） （PBAT） fully biodegradable mulch film and ordinary polyethylene （PE） mulch film, with no mulch film （CK） as the control. Macroscopic characteristics such as the degree of apparent cracking of the mulch film, loss of the mulch film area, and the rate of weight loss were observed, and the results were combined with the results of scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, and thermogravimetry （TGR）.

This paper introduces an innovative technique for extracting pesticides from herbal infusions using a core-shell magnetic adsorbent (i.e., Cu-BTC@FeO) where achieving a notable enrichment factor for the target pesticides by coupling with a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction method.
