Epithelial V-like antigen (EVA) is an immunoglobulin-like adhesion molecule identified in a screen for molecules developmentally regulated at the DN to DP progression in thymocyte development. We show that EVA is expressed during the early stages of thymus organogenesis in both fetal thymic epithelia and T cell precursors, and is progressively downregulated from day 16.5 of embryonic development. In the postnatal thymus, EVA expression is restricted to epithelial cells and is distributed throughout both cortical and medullary thymic regions. Transgenic overexpression of EVA in the thymus cortex resulted in a modified stromal environment, which elicited an increase in organ size and absolute cell number. Although peripheral T lymphocyte numbers are augmented throughout life, no imbalance either in the repertoire, or in the different T cell subsets was detected. Collectively, these data suggest a role for EVA in structural organisation of the thymus and early lymphocyte development.

Multiple genetic associations suggest a causative relationship between Th17-related genes coding for proteins, such as IL-17A, IL-23 and STAT3, and psoriasis. Further support for this link comes from the findings that neutralizing antibodies directed against IL-17A, IL-17RA and IL-23 are efficacious in diseases like psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. RORγt is a centrally positioned transcription factor driving Th17 polarization and cytokine secretion and modulation of RORγt may thus provide additional benefit to patients.

Background: Post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCy) and anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) are common prophylactic strategies for graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT). Interleukin (IL)-6 is a surrogate marker for cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and acute GVHD.
Method: The clinical outcomes and complications of haplo-HSCT with PTCy plus ATG versus PTCy monotherapy were compared according to serum IL-6 levels at Chungnam National University Hospital (Daejeon, South Korea) from January 2019 to February 2023.

The thymus is a primary lymphoid organ where major types of T lymphocytes undergo essential developmental processes. Eosinophils are among the cell types present in microenvironments within the thymus, and perhaps surprisingly, the role of thymic eosinophils, especially during homeostatic conditions, remains unclear. Major physiological events impact thymic organization and function throughout life: including age-related involution, pregnancy, and exposure to chemotherapy or radiation.

Tribbles homolog 2 (TRIB2), a pseudoserine/threonine kinase, is a member of the TRIB family. TRIB2 primarily regulates cell proliferation through its scaffold or adaptor effect on promoting the degradation of target proteins by E3 ligase-dependent ubiquitination and regulating mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathways. TRIB2 is not only involved in the physiological proliferation of cells (granulosa cells, myoblasts, naive T cells, and thymocytes) during normal development but also in the pathological proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and a variety of cancer cells (lung cancer cells, liver cancer cells, leukemia cells, pancreatic cancer cells, gastric cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, thyroid cancer cells, cervical cancer cells, melanoma cells, colorectal cancer cells, ovarian cancer cells and osteosarcoma cells) under disease conditions.

Aims: The development and selection of T cells occur within the thymus. This organ involutes throughout life, compromising the generation of T cells and, consequently, the efficacy of the immune system. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have beneficial effects on the immune system.
