The open eye injury, caused by the penetration of the wire from the rotating steel wire brush is relatively frequent eye injury. In the Czech language, the phrase "better than with the wire into the eye ..." is used as the adage to compare the seriousness of the moment. In a case report, the authors describe a penetrating injury caused by a wire from the steel wire brush, its course, surgical treatment, complications, and final finding. Introduction: The peripheral radioulnar articulation and the bony radioulnar articulation make up the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ), a diarthrodial trochoid synovial joint stabilizers for soft tissues. Of the DRUJ's stability, only around 20% may be attributed to the bony articulation. Treatment for DRUJ injuries resulting from a solely ligamentous rupture varies and is subject to debate.

: Orthodontic archwires undergo chemical and structural changes in the complex intraoral environment. The present work aims to investigate the safe duration for intraoral use (related to the nickel release hypothesis) of different types of nickel-containing wires. By analyzing how the nickel content (NC) varies over time, we aim to provide practical recommendations for the optimal use of said archwires.

The adoption of pultruded glass fibre-reinforced polymer (pGFRP) composites as a substitute for traditional wooden cross-arms in high transmission towers represents a relatively novel approach. These materials were selected for their high strength-to-weight ratio and lightweight properties. Despite various studies focusing on structures improvement, there still have a significant gap in understanding the deformation characteristics of full-scale cross-arms under actual operational loads.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate and compare High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR-BT) with Helical Tomotherapy (HT) treatment plans. The focus is on small target volumes near radiation-sensitive organs in the ocular region, to evaluate the advantages of these techniques in treating skin cancer.

Methods: This retrospective observational analysis included patients who underwent skin cancer HDR-BT Freiburg flap treatment between 2019 and 2023.

Veratridine Induces Vasorelaxation in Mouse Cecocolic Mesenteric Arteries.

Toxins (Basel)

December 2024

Univ. Angers, INSERM, CNRS, MITOVASC, Equipe CarME, SFR ICAT, 49000 Angers, France.

The vegetal alkaloid toxin veratridine (VTD) is a selective voltage-gated Na (Na) channel activator, widely used as a pharmacological tool in vascular physiology. We have previously shown that Na channels, expressed in arteries, contribute to vascular tone in mouse mesenteric arteries (MAs). Here, we aimed to better characterize the mechanisms of action of VTD using mouse cecocolic arteries (CAs), a model of resistance artery.
