Background: Monkeypox (Mpox), is a disease of global public health concern, as it does not affect only countries in western and central Africa.
Aim: To assess Burundi healthcare workers (HCWs)s' level of knowledge and confidence in the diagnosis and management of Mpox.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study an online survey designed mainly from the World Health Organization course distributed among Burundi HCWs from June-July 2023.

Objective We evaluated the outcomes of tympanic membrane regenerative treatment using gelatin sponge, recombinant basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), and fibrin glue at Yokosuka Kyosai Hospital. Methodology We enrolled a total of 42 patients with tympanic membrane perforations (TMPs) (44 ears; right:left = 21:23) that were treated using gelatin sponge, recombinant bFGF, and fibrin glue between July 2020 and December 2023 at Yokosuka Kyosai Hospital. TMP closure rates, improvement of hearing level, and complications were retrospectively included in the evaluation items.

In this work, a cost-effective, scalable pneumatic silicone actuator array is introduced, designed to dynamically conform to the user's skin and thereby alleviate localised pressure within a prosthetic socket. The appropriate constitutive models for developing a finite element representation of these actuators are systematically identified, parametrised, and validated. Employing this computational framework, the surface deformation fields induced by 270 variations in soft actuator array design parameters under realistic load conditions are examined, achieving predictive accuracies within 70 µm.

It is not understood how variation at the cellular level impacts putatively beneficial, colony-level behaviors, such as cell-to-cell signaling. Here we investigate this problem with an agent-based computational model of metabolically driven electrochemical signaling in Bacillus subtilis biofilms.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA large fraction of the genome interacts with the nuclear periphery through lamina-associated domains (LADs), repressive regions which play an important role in genome organization and gene regulation across development. Despite much work, LAD structure and regulation are not fully understood, and a mounting number of studies have identified numerous genetic and epigenetic differences within LADs, demonstrating they are not a uniform group. Here we profile Lamin B1, HP1β, H3K9me3, H3K9me2, H3K27me3, H3K14ac, H3K27ac, and H3K9ac in MEF cell lines derived from the same mouse colony and cluster LADs based on the abundance and distribution of these features across LADs.
