Identification of clinically relevant Fusobacterium spp. is hampered by their slow growth, their frequent occurrence in polymicrobial culture, and the low reliability of biochemical differentiation methods. A newly developed fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assay allowed reliable and rapid identification of Fusobacterium necrophorum and Fusobacterium nucleatum from culture. Preliminary results show that the method offers the perspective for direct detection of these pathogens in blood cultures and abscess aspirates.

Pathogenic intracellular bacteria pose a significant threat to global public health due to the barriers presented by host cells hindering the timely detection of hidden bacteria and the effective delivery of therapeutic agents. To address these challenges, we propose a tandem diagnosis-guided treatment paradigm. A supramolecular sensor array is developed for simple, rapid, accurate, and high-throughput identification of intracellular bacteria.

The laser-induced fluorescence technique has the advantage of fast and non-destructive detection and can be used to classify types of marine microplastics. However, spectral overlap poses a challenge for qualitative and quantitative analysis by conventional fluorescence spectroscopy. In this paper, a 405 nm excitation laser source was used to irradiate 4 types of microplastic samples with different concentrations, and a total of 1600 sets of fluorescence spectral data were obtained.

Background: The widespread and evolution of RNA viruses, such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), highlights the importance of fast identification of virus subtypes, particularly in non-laboratory settings. Rapid and inexpensive at-home testing of viral nucleic acids with single-base resolution remains a challenge.
Methods: Topologically constrained DNA ring is engineered as substrates for the trans-cleavage of Cas13a to yield an accelerated post isothermal amplification.

Identification of constitutive herbs in an herbal product is critical for ensuring its quality and efficacy. However, current identification methods often lack universality, entail long durations, and involve complex procedures. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop innovative methods for identifying constitutive herbs.

NUT carcinoma is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy, predominantly affecting adolescents and young adults. This tumor demonstrates rapid progression, resistance to conventional anti-cancer treatments, and an extremely poor prognosis. Currently, research on NUT carcinoma is limited, and effective treatment options remain scarce.
