Purpose: Intraoperative laxity assessments in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are subjective, with few studies comparing against standardised preoperative and postoperative assessments. This study compares coronal knee laxity in TKA patients awake and anaesthetised, preprosthesis and postprosthesis implantation, evaluating relationships to patient-reported outcome measures.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 49 TKA joints included preoperative and postoperative computed tomography scans, stress radiographs and knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score (KOOS) questionnaire results preoperatively and 12 months postoperatively.

Amputation is the surgical removal of a body part or limb caused by excessive tightness, pathological conditions, or a surgical procedure on an extremity. Transtibial amputation involves removing the feet, ankle, distal part of the tibia, and fibula with the surrounding structures like connective tissues and other structures surrounding the distal part of the bone. This type of surgery has a high rate of contraindications but has adequate indications; it maintains a therapeutic technique with a high clinical price and, in general, lifesaving value.

Institute of Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, United States of America.
Background: The rise of diabetes and traumatic injury has increased limb loss-related morbidity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Despite this, the majority of amputees in LMICs have no access to prosthetic devices, and the magnitude of prosthesis impact on quality of life (QOL ) and function has not been quantified.
Objectives: Quantify the impact of prostheses on QOL and function in Tanzanian transfemoral amputees.

Introduction: Dislocation after bipolar hip hemiarthroplasty is an uncommon complication. Although closed manoeuvre reduction under general anaesthesia is a common and effective method for dislocation of the hemiarthroplasty. However, closed reduction leads to preprosthesis fracture of femoral and loosening of femoral prosthesis is a rare situation, which requires incision reduction and a revision hemiarthroplasty.
