AI Article Synopsis

  • The study assessed the effectiveness of color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) in diagnosing Budd-Chiari syndrome (B-CS) by analyzing data from 35 patients.
  • Of the patients studied, 34 were correctly diagnosed with B-CS using CDFI, resulting in a 97.1% accuracy rate, though one case was misdiagnosed due to local stenosis.
  • The findings suggest that CDFI is a valuable non-invasive tool for diagnosing B-CS, showing detailed issues in both hepatic veins and the inferior vena cava.

Article Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of color Doppler flow image (CDFI) for the diagnosis of Budd-Chiari syndrome (B-CS).

Methods: CDFI findings of 35 patients with B-CS were retrospectively analyzed and compared with the findings of venography of inferior vena cava (IVC).

Results: Thirty-four patients were diagnosed as B-CS by CDFI, while one patient with local tunica stenosis was misdiagnosed. The correct diagnostic rate was 97.1%. In the 34 patients, CDFI displayed stenosis or occlusion in the hepatic vein and IVC in 24 patients, IVC only in 8,and hepatic vein only in 2.

Conclusion: CDFI may be a principal non-invasive technique to diagnose B-CS.

Purpose: To evaluate if color Doppler can detect internal blood flow in circumscribed choroidal hemangioma.

Methods: This cross-sectional study examined seven eyes of seven participants with circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas, with or without prior treatment. B-scan ultrasound and color Doppler were used to assess the dimensions, topographical distribution, and internal blood flow of the affected eyes.

The present study aims to examine the effect of 4 h of continuous sitting on cerebral endothelial function, which is a crucial component of cerebral blood flow regulation. We hypothesized that 4 h of sitting may impair cerebral endothelial function similarly to how it affects lower limb vasculature. Thirteen young, healthy participants were instructed to remain seated for 4 h without moving their lower limbs.

Botulinum toxin-A (BTX-A) is widely used for aesthetic purposes and is recognized for its vasomotor actions. However, new medical applications have emerged. This study aims to describe the effect of BTX-A on human skin perfusion, particularly vessel diameter, blood flow, and blood vessel density in regions with known low vessel density.

Swine are increasingly utilized in cardiovascular research due to their anatomical and physiological similarities to humans, particularly for studying diastolic dysfunction. While MRI offers excellent structural imaging, echocardiography provides superior real-time assessment of diastolic parameters. To address the lack of standardized methods and reduce variability across studies, we present a comprehensive guide for performing echocardiography in Yorkshire pigs, detailing anatomical considerations, equipment requirements, and technical approaches.
