The paper presents the results of a study of health status and some factors of nutrition in 1900 adolescents aged 10-17 years from the Primorye Territory. A comprehensive assessment of the height and development established health group 1 only in 4.2%, which is 6.5% less than the initial data of preventive examinations at educational establishments. The implication of the morphofunctional status was underestimated in assessing the health status. The findings of the pattern of nutrition in children adolescents from the Primorye Territory point to its irregularity, unbalanced characteristics in terms of basic ingredients, accompanied by low health indices. Metabolic trophotropicity was revealed in the adolescents of the Primorye Territory at the present stage. These processes were most marked in 13-year-old girls. In the average, in every 7 children protein metabolism tended to decrease with the maximum manifestation of these disorders at the age of 11-12 years.

In the Primorsky Krai there was performed a population ecological and hygienic analysis of the relationship between the content of chemical elements in the soil and thyroid morbidity in the population of the region. The assessment of the prevalence of iodine deficiency and iodine deficiency diseases was carried out on the basis of the impact of the priority environmental toxic (strontium, nickel, cadmium, lead, arsenic, tin) and essential (nickel, iron, germanium, molybdenum, zinc, selenium) trace elements on the level of iodine deficiency diseases. The level of thyroid pathology in the territory of Primorye was established to be the highest one in areas characterized by the severe iodine deficiency (Northwest geochemical zones), where the structure of thyroid diseases is presented mainly by diffuse nontoxic goiter.

Conducted Ecological hygienic assessment of the incidence of respiratory diseases in bioclimatic zones has been performed. The study of the incidence was conducted with the use of the classical methods of analysis of data such as descriptive statistics, chi-square test, correlation and regression analysis. The study found that respiratory diseases occupy 30%, 47% and 61% in the structure of the incidence in adults, adolescents and children correspondingly.

The paper presents the results of a hygienic study to identify the leading regional risk factors for noninfectious diseases of the digestive tract (DT) in the Primorye Territory. Data on 55 environmental factors and registered deaths by 5 groups of noninfectious DT diseases over 15 years were collected for the study. The authors used an original scheme for identifying risk factors for DT diseases, by concurrently applying a correlation and regression analysis.
