In this paper the problems that may arise when ivermectin is used in small animal medicine are discussed. A case-report is presented concerning a Canadian-American White Shepherd showing symptoms of fatal ivermectin poisoning following a normal dosage of ivermectin (220 micrograms per kilogramme of body weight). The treatment of dogs with ivermectin poisoning is described and some guide lines concerning the use of ivermectin are given.

Emamectin benzoate (EMB) is an antibiotic insecticide pesticide modified from avermectin. In the current study, we performed an in-depth investigation of the protective effects of epicatechin on EMB-induced liver injury in common carps. The carps were cultured in an aquatic environment containing 2.

Abamectin is an insecticide, miticide and nematicide that has been extensively used in agriculture for many years. The excessive use of abamectin inevitably pollutes water and soil and might even cause adverse effects on aquatic biota. However, it is currently unclear how abamectin exposure causes neurotoxicity in aquatic organisms.

Article Synopsis
  • The study highlights that despite continuous mass drug administration (MDA) with ivermectin in Ghana, onchocerciasis transmission remains an issue in certain areas, evidenced by ongoing infections in endemic communities.
  • Researchers collected nearly 10,000 black flies to analyze their species composition and determine transmission patterns, finding that almost all flies (99.8%) were savanna species.
  • High biting rates and potential transmission indices were recorded, indicating significant continued disease risk, while cytogenetic studies identified three distinct black fly cytospecies linked to the transmission of the parasite.

Avermectin (AVM), a compound derived from the fermentation of Avermectin Streptomyces, has insecticidal, acaricidal, and nematicidal properties. Widely employed in agriculture, it serves as an effective and broad-spectrum insecticide for pest control. Although the toxicity of AVM at low doses may not be readily apparent, prolonged and extensive exposure can result in poisoning.

Herein, a magnetic cationic Schiff base polymeric material (FeO@SiO-Schiff-TAPB-DA) was fabricated simply and rapidly, which was explored as a magnetic adsorbent for magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) for enriching seven avermectins insecticides in surface water and milk matrices combined with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). Under the optimized pretreatment and instrumental parameters, the analytes showed good linearity in the range of 0.5-200.
