Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) with delayed contrast enhancement (DCE) using Gadolinium based contrast media is a recently developed technique which allows the direct visualisation of myocardial necrosis or fibrosis as regions of bright signal (hyperenhancement) compared with normal myocardium. The manuscript presents a review of the current clinical application of DCE-CMR for the diagnosis and prognosis of various common cardiac conditions such as ischaemic and non-ischaemic cardiomyopathies, and less common diseases such as cardiac sarcoidosis or Löffler endocarditis (Table 1).

Unlabelled: Delay period activity in the dorso-lateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) has been linked to the maintenance and control of sensory information in working memory. The stability of working memory related signals found in such delay period activity is believed to support robust memory-guided behavior during sensory perturbations, such as distractors. Here, we directly probed dlPFC's delay period activity with a diverse set of activity perturbations, and measured their consequences on neural activity and behavior.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFExecutive functions, including working memory, are typically assessed clinically with neuropsychological instruments. In contrast, computerized tasks are used to test these cognitive functions in laboratory human and animal studies. Little is known of how neural activity captured by laboratory tasks relates to ability measured by clinical instruments and, by extension, clinical diagnoses of pathological conditions.

Background: RNA m6A methylation installed by RNA methyltransferases plays a crucial role in regulating plant growth and development and environmental stress responses. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of m6A methylation involved in seed germination and stress responses are largely unknown. In the present study, we surveyed global m6A methylation in rice seed germination under salt stress and the control (no stress) using an osmta1 mutant and its wild type.

Purpose: Diffusion-weighted arterial spin labeling (DW-ASL) MRI has been proposed to determine the rate of water exchange (K) across the blood brain barrier (BBB). This study aims to further evaluate K MRI by comparing it with standard dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI and histology in association with mannitol-induced disruption of the BBB.
Methods: DW-ASL was measured using a multiple b-value MRI protocol in normal rats at three post-labeling delays (N = 19), before and after intra-carotid injection of mannitol to disrupt BBB in one hemisphere (N = 13).
Introduction: The objective of our study was to determine the prevalence of a delayed thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) rise in infants with congenital hypothyroidism (CH) born in Indiana. Additionally, we sought to determine whether there are differences in clinical or demographic factors associated with this delayed cohort compared to those seen in infants detected early.
Methods: Newborn screen (NBS) results were collected for all cases of CH diagnosed between 2012-2022.
