Unlabelled: Mismatch Negativity is a functional index of the supratemporal auditory cortex.
Aim: The aim of the present study on Mismatch Negativity (MMN) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients was to evaluate if the MMN can be correlated with cognitive deficits assessed by the Paced Auditory Addition Task--PASAT.
Method: a clinical study in forty females and 20 males separated in two groups: control individuals and those with a definite diagnosis of MS underwent a duration and frequency MMN. The MMN latencies and negative amplitudes obtained from the MS group were compared to the ones from the control group. The scores from the Paced Auditory Addition Task were correlated either with the presence or the absence of MMN.
Results: MMN was found in 60% of the individuals with multiple sclerosis within the auditory stimulation protocol with varied durations, and in 45 % within the auditory stimulation protocol with frequency variations. There were no statistically significant differences in latencies and amplitudes when compared to controls. We found a statistically significant correlation for the lack of MMN wave together with cognitive disorder asserted by the PASAT.
Conclusions: The MMN correlated to the cognitive deficit assessed by the PASAT.

As PI-LL mismatch is an effective index for spinal surgery and PI-LL less than 10 probably indicates better quality of life, this study aimed to assess spinopelvic parameters, lumbar instability, and lumbar muscle morphology in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP) with different PI-LL mismatches. This cross-sectional study included 158 CLBP patients. The association between lumbar extensor muscle morphology (measured from magnetic resonance imaging) and spinopelvic parameters (measured from standing lateral radiographs) and lumbar instability (measured from lumbar flexion/extension radiographs) was compared between two groups of patients with different PI-LL mismatch.

Background: Cochlear implants (CIs) have the potential to facilitate auditory restoration in deaf children and contribute to the maturation of the auditory cortex. The type of CI may impact hearing rehabilitation in children with CI. We aimed to study central auditory processing activation patterns during speech perception in Mandarin-speaking pediatric CI recipients with different device characteristics.

Background: The frequent communication between African and Southeast Asian (SEA) countries has led to the risk of imported malaria cases in the China-Myanmar border (CMB) region. Therefore, tracing the origins of new malaria infections is important in the maintenance of malaria-free zones in this border region. A new genotyping tool based on a robust mitochondrial (mt) /apicoplast (apico) barcode was developed to estimate genetic diversity and infer the evolutionary history of Plasmodium falciparum across the major distribution ranges.

Objective: This study aimed to identify the recurrence and survival rates according to the mismatch repair (MMR), p53, and L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) status in patients with advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer (EC) receiving systemic chemotherapy.
Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study included chemotherapy-naïve patients with advanced-stage (III/IV) or recurrent EC between January 2015 and June 2022 (n = 156), who were administered chemotherapy as adjuvant therapy or first-line palliative treatment. MMR and p53 status were assessed, and L1CAM was tested using immunohistochemistry in the p53-wild and MMR-proficient (p53wt/pMMR) group.

Hormone blockers are defined as substances that suppress the release of sex hormones, thus inhibiting the development of secondary sexual characteristics in teenagers. There is currently an increase in young people seeking healthcare services due to a mismatch between their birth-assigned gender and their perceived or self-identified gender. In early childhood, individuals are not usually affected by their physical appearance.
