We consider the point-spread function (PSF) of an imaging system looking through weak optical turbulence along a horizontal path through the atmospheric surface layer. From this PSF we derive a scalar total irradiance field and a center-of-mass vector field. Theoretical values are found for the space-time autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions for these fields, which are then compared with the observed correlation functions obtained from data taken at the Validation Measurements on Propagation in the Infrared and Radar (VAMPIRA) measurement trial. We discuss the meaning of these results and possible directions for future work.

To report the cosmetic, clinical, and visual outcomes of a combined surgical approach for treating a corneal/limbal dermoid using excision and a three-layered amniotic membrane graft with fibrin glue. An 18-year-old female presented with impaired vision and ocular discomfort caused by a prominent dome-shaped limbal congenital dermoid on the inferotemporal cornea, resulting in a significant aesthetic concern. A full assessment, including refraction, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), corneal topography, aberrometry and anterior segment OCT (AS-OCT) was conducted to plan the surgical approach.

Accurate and efficient measurement of deposited droplets' volume is vital to achieve zero-defect manufacturing in inkjet printed organic light-emitting diode (OLED), but it remains a challenge due to droplets' featurelessness. In our work, coherence scanning interferometry (CSI) is utilized to measure the volume. However, the CSI redundant sampling and image degradation led by the sample's transparency decrease the efficiency and accuracy.

Nanoparticles embedded in polymer matrices play a critical role in enhancing the properties and functionalities of composite materials. Detecting and quantifying nanoparticles from optical images (fixed samples-in vitro imaging) is crucial for understanding their distribution, aggregation, and interactions, which can lead to advancements in nanotechnology, materials science, and biomedical research. In this article, we propose an ensembled deep learning approach for automatic nanoparticle detection and oligomerization quantification in a polymer matrix for optical images.

Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) performed in a scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) is susceptible to noise, just like every other measurement. EELS measurements are also affected by signal blurring, related to the energy distribution of the electron beam and the detector point spread function (PSF). Moreover, the signal blurring caused by the detector introduces correlation effects, which smooth the noise.

Three-dimensional subcellular imaging is essential for biomedical research, but the diffraction limit of optical microscopy compromises axial resolution, hindering accurate three-dimensional structural analysis. This challenge is particularly pronounced in label-free imaging of thick, heterogeneous tissues, where assumptions about data distribution (e.g.
