Background: Smartwatches are increasingly popular for physical activity and health promotion. However, ongoing validation studies on commercial smartwatches are still needed to ensure their accuracy in assessing daily activity levels, which is important for both promoting activity-related health behaviors and serving research purposes.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of a popular smartwatch, the Huawei Watch GT2, in measuring step count (SC), total daily activity energy expenditure (TDAEE), and total sleep time (TST) during daily activities among Chinese adults, and test whether there are population differences.

Objective: The objective of this cross-sectional study was to compare the physical activity level between individuals with and without rotator cuff related shoulder pain (RCRSP), and, in individuals with RCRSP, investigate whether biopsychosocial factors are associated with the physical activity level.
Methods: Seventy-four participants with and 84 participants without RCRSP wore a fitness tracking watch for seven consecutive days to assess physical activity (step count, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA)-minutes). Additionally, participants with RCRSP completed questionnaires on their level of pain, disability, and physical activity (short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire [IPAQ]), as well as on biopsychosocial factors, including resilience, stress, catastrophizing, anxiety and depressive symptoms, self-efficacy, and social support.

The present study aimed to investigate changes in corticospinal excitability (CSE) by observing unnatural walking patterns on a treadmill with different left and right belt speeds. Fifteen healthy adults watched video clips (10 s each) of walking under the tied condition (left and right treadmill belt speeds are the same), walking during the initial and late periods under the split-belt condition (left and right treadmill belt speeds are different), and the static fixation cross (control condition) in random order. The step lengths of the actor in the walking clips were almost symmetric under the tied condition and during the late period under the split-belt condition but largely asymmetric during the initial period under the split-belt condition.

The deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology (connected devices enabling algorithmic analysis of behaviour and individualized feedback) has been growing increasingly over the last decades, including in the workplace where they can serve occupational safety and health (OSH) purposes. However, although the IoT is deployed for good aims, the use of these devices raises numerous ethical issues which have had little literature specifically dedicated to them. To fill this gap, we have investigated the ethical views of key stakeholders on the deployment of IoT for OSH.
