Purpose Of Review: Laparoscopic prostatectomy has become a standardized procedure; consequently, many urologic surgeons have mastered it. Using the knowledge gained from this procedure, some laparoscopic urologic surgeons have also been successfully performing laparoscopic radical cystectomy. We review the current literature to determine the optimal technique for laparoscopic radical cystectomy.

Recent Findings: Three techniques for the extirpative aspect of laparoscopic radical cystectomy have been described: robot-assisted, hand-assisted and pure laparoscopic surgery. Creation of the urinary bladder has been performed via both intracorporeal and extracorporeal techniques with more recent studies favoring the extracorporeal creation of the urinary diversion.

Summary: Laparoscopic radical cystectomy has become a standard procedure at many laparoscopic centers worldwide. The procedure is feasible with reproducible results. It appears to offer the patient all the advantages of other minimally invasive surgeries with respect to postoperative recovery.

Background: Pancreatic cancer involving the pancreas neck and body often invades the retroperitoneal vessels, making its radical resection challenging. Multimodal treatment strategies, including neoadjuvant therapy, surgery, and postoperative adjuvant therapy, are contributing to a paradigm shift in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. This strategy is also promising in the treatment of pancreatic neck-body cancer.

The synchronous occurrence of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasm (PNEN) and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) in one patient is extremely rare. Synchronous resection of both tumours is preferred over a two-stage procedure if possible. The robotic da Vinci Xi platform allows for multi-quadrant surgery with oncological outcomes comparable to those of laparoscopic or open surgery.

Background: Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) are fundamental to evidence-based medicine, but their real-world impact on clinical practice often remains unmonitored. Leveraging large-scale real-world data can enable systematic monitoring of RCT effects. We aimed to develop a reproducible framework using real-world data to assess how major RCTs influence medical practice, using two pivotal surgical RCTs in gynaecologic oncology as an example-the LACC (Laparoscopic Approach to Cervical Cancer) and LION (Lymphadenectomy in Ovarian Neoplasms) trials.

Rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are often asymptomatic and may be detected as giant tumors. This may require highly invasive surgery for radical resection. Here, we describe a 74-year-old man with a locally advanced non-metastatic GIST in the right anterolateral wall of the lower rectum.

Purpose Of Review: Neuroendocrine tumours (NET) are rare entities arising from hormone producing cells in the gastroentero-pancreatic (GEP) tract. Surgery is the most common treatment of GEP-NETs.

Recent Findings: Improvements in surgical techniques allow for more locally advanced and metastasised GEP-NETs to be resected.
