We have recently introduced the concept of whole-body asymmetric MRI systems [1]. In this theoretical study, we investigate the PNS characteristics of whole-body asymmetric gradient systems as compared to conventional symmetric systems. Recent experimental evidence [2] supports the hypothesis of transverse gradients being the largest contributor of PNS due to induced electric currents. Asymmetric head gradient coils have demonstrated benefits in the past [3]. The numerical results are based on an anatomically-accurate 2mm-human voxel-phantom NORMAN [4]. The results of this study can facilitate the optimization of whole-body asymmetric gradients in terms of patient comfort/safety (less PNS), while prospering the use of asymmetric MRI systems for in-vivo medical interventions.

Purpose: To propose a hybrid transverse gradient coil design method that leverages current density-based methods and nonuniform rational B-spline (NURBS) curves to optimize the performance and manufacturability of gradient coils.
Methods: Our method begins by generating an initial wire configuration using a density-based method. Then, we fit NURBS curves to the configuration, and adjust the control parameters of these curves to meet performance requirements.

Asymmetric hot spots in the axial skeleton on bone scintigraphy may confound diagnosis. We describe an unexpected artifact of Tc-methylene diphosphonate near the breast in a 55-y-old woman with breast cancer. The initial whole-body bone scintigraphy revealed a solitary focal lesion in the anterior ribs on the left side.

Background: During a phase 0 clinical trial of an investigational programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) PET tracer in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), three patients received booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines before PD-L1 imaging.
Methods: Five patients underwent whole-body PET/CT imaging with a novel PD-L1 tracer, constructed by attaching Zr to the anti PD-L1 antibody durvalumab. Intramuscular (deltoid) booster doses of mRNA BNT162b2 COVID-19 mRNA vaccine were coincidentally given to three patients in the month before PD-L1 tracer injection.
