Cardiotocography as a simultaneous recording of fetal heart rate (FHR) and uterine contraction activity is a basic method for evaluation of fetal condition. Continuous variability of the fetal heart rate is an indirect sign of adequate oxygenation of a fetus. Unfortunately, the reverse case is not always true, signs suggesting pathological changes can also appear in recording when the fetal is not at risk. The cardiotocography shall then be recognized as a more screening than diagnostic method. It will be interesting to develop a noninvasive method being complementary to routine cardiotocography. This method should allow the adequate prediction of a bad clinical outcome when the test is abnormal. The paper presents the system that makes possible cardiotocograms analysis in parallel with the assessment of additional parameters determined from comparison of mechanical and electrical fetal heart activity signals. The studies are aimed at development of set of parameters that are high correlated with fetal outcome.

Purpose: To investigate fetal cardiac functions and remodeling in pregnancies conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Methods: This prospective case-control study included 40 singleton IVF pregnancies and 46 uncomplicated control pregnancies at 28-36 weeks of gestation. The IVF group consisted of pregnancies applied to the outpatient clinic, excluding those with anatomical or chromosomal abnormalities.
Novel Insights In presence of cardiotocographic features suspected for hypoxic insult, intrapartum ultrasound in the hands of experienced operators can demonstrate cerebral edema as an indirect sign of fetal hypoxia affecting the fetal CNS and exclude non-hypoxic conditions potentially leading to abnormalities of the fetal heart rate. Introduction Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is a syndrome involving the fetal central nervous system as the result of a perinatal hypoxic-ischemic injury. To date, transfontanellar ultrasound represents the first line exam in neonates with clinical suspicion of HIE as it allows to show features indicating acute hypoxic injury and exclude potential non-hypoxic determinants of HIE, however there is no report concerning the sonographic assessment of the brain during labor.

Gestational 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) is important in fetal lung development and may influence offspring respiratory outcomes, making accurate exposure assessment essential to understand clinical associations. Therefore, we used the combined data from two large RCTs investigating prenatal vitamin D supplementation, which included early and late prenatal 25(OH)D measurements, to refine a population pharmacokinetic model of vitamin D-25(OH)D and estimate individual area under the curve (AUC) Z-scores. The primary outcome was physician-diagnosed offspring asthma/wheezing at ages 3 and 6 years, and lung function, as a secondary outcome, was evaluated by spirometry at the ages 6 and 8 years.
