Haematopoietic cytokines are important in the regulation of haematopoiesis and immune responses, and they can also influence lymphocyte development. Hundreds of members of several different cytokines families have been discovered by some different methods. But fast evolution rate and low similarity of cytokines prevent identifing novel members of a cytokine family completely with classical tools such as BLAST. Here hidden markov model algorithm is performed on Haematopoietic cytokines and inerleukin 10 (IL10) related family, and two motifs are discovered. Then, three famous protein sequence databases(SwissProt, IPI and Nr) were scanned using each motif respectively, which leaded to evaluate the relation between motif and every sequence of database including some unknown proteins or some ambiguous function proteins of known families. Furthermore, the biology features were compared to filter novel members of cytokines. As a result, four proteins are predicted to be the cytokine candidates.

The heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) family plays an important role in the growth and development of lettuce and in the defense response to high-temperature stress; however, its bioinformatics analysis in lettuce has been extremely limited. Genome-wide bioinformatics analysis methods such as chromosome location, phylogenetic relationships, gene structure, collinearity analysis, and promoter analysis were performed in the gene family, and the expression patterns in response to high-temperature stress were analyzed. The mechanism of in heat resistance in lettuce was studied by virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) and transient overexpression techniques.

Dissolution of CO in water followed by the subsequent hydrolysis reactions is of great importance to the global carbon cycle, and carbon capture and storage. Despite numerous previous studies, the reactions are still not fully understood at the atomistic scale. Here, we combined ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations with Markov state models to elucidate the reaction mechanisms and kinetics of CO in supercritical water both in the bulk and nanoconfined states.

This study presents the first movement analysis of snow leopards () using satellite telemetry data, focusing on the northeastern Himalayas of Nepal. By examining GPS-based satellite collar data between 2013 and 2017 from five collared snow leopards (effectively three individuals), the research uncovered distinct movement patterns, activity budgeting and home range utilisation from one adult male and two sub adult females. Hidden Markov models (HMMs) revealed three behavioural states based on the movement patterns-slow (indicative of resting), moderate and fast (associated with travelling) and demonstrated that the time of day influenced their behavioural state.

Fatigue can cause human error, which is the main cause of accidents. In this study, the dynamic fatigue recognition of unmanned electric locomotive operators under high-altitude, cold and low oxygen conditions was studied by combining physiological signals and multi-index information. The characteristic data from the physiological signals (ECG, EMG and EM) of 15 driverless electric locomotive operators were tracked and tested continuously in the field for 2 h, and a dynamic fatigue state evaluation model based on a first-order hidden Markov (HMM) dynamic Bayesian network was established.
